Shuttle Launches

Hi,
I was wondering how the shuttle launches look from Disney (esp. night launches) and if there were any buses or tours that you can catch to take you over to Kennedy Space Center. I don't want to rent a car. I think it would be more important to be at the space center for a day launch. The one scheduled for Aug. 25th is a night launch.

They are neat but nothing compared to being there. The difference would be like the difference between watching a ride video of a roller coaster and riding the roller coaster. Your best bet in getting there is unfortunately renting a car for a day but you will find the cost of renting less expensive then other means of transportation. Watching from the Kennedy space center is not the easiest thing to do and it is not cheep but it is by far the best way to do it. Tickets have to be bought in advance, they sell out quickly, they run between $40-$80 and to my understanding are non refundable even if the launch is scrubbed. You can however view the launch for free from Space View park in Titusville. Here is a link to pictures of a launch from Space View park.

My son Morgan would be very impressed If I pointed it out to him. :D

It comes up directly over Mission Space at Epcot and Space Mountain at MK. The Egyptians couldn't of planed it better.

Just an FYI I have been hearing that the shuttle that will be luanching around 2 am on the 25th of August might be delayed.

...Which, for being at 2 a.m., might be a good thing. I plan on making this my first shuttle launch view being so close to the Space Center now, and college requires precious, precious sleep... something a launch at that time wouldn't be able to afford!

Glad the possible delay was mentioned, it inspired me to check the NASA site... The launch isn't scheduled for the 25th at all, it's on the 24th [and since it's at 1:58AM, it's more accurate to say the night of the 23rd]:

Date: Aug. 24 +
Mission: STS-128
Launch Vehicle: Space Shuttle Discovery
Launch Site: Kennedy Space Center - Launch Pad 39A
Launch Time: 1:58 a.m. EDT
Description: Space shuttle Discovery will use a Multi-Purpose Logistics Module to carry experiment and storage racks to the International Space Station.

Since MK has evening EMH on the 23rd, it'll be taking off just after when I expect to get back to Beach Club! :D
