Shuttle launch in May

I was thinking the same. The updated schedule does not list STS-125 at all. I hope it has not been canceled.

I suppose that 2 shuttles could be up at the same time on this occasion. STS-125 will be to Hubble which is a couple of hundred miles higher in altitude than the ISS, which will receive STS-127.

It would be really hard on the ground crews, though-even though most are different people working the flight. LOL Just had another thought---- With the launches scheduled so close it would cut the cost of sending the landing crews all over the world twice.( in case they have to land somewhere else in the world)You would already have landing crews stationed at all the alternate landing sites in Europe, Africa, etc. and they could just keep them there longer for the 2nd flight and cut out transporting the Lockheed guys twice. That would cut spending a little in these economic crisis days.:)

For STS-125, 2 shuttles must be on the pads. Atlantis would be unable to reach the ISS if the need to do so occurred. So, a "rescue" shuttle would have to be sitting on the pad.

We saw the launch in November. Took off at night and if you look over Mission Space, you can see it. There were quite a few clouds that night however, but it was still really cool

You won't regret making the trip to the coast. It is still totally awesome even when you have seen every one of them go up.

It probably would be easiest for you to do a launch day bus tour. Just google space shuttle launch day tours from Orlando and you will find a bunch to choose from. Right now of course they are booking the ones for next weeks launch so it will give you an idea of the price for the tour etc.
