Shut out from an ADR

Have you had any problems getting a specific resturant during the free dining promotion for this year. For 2 years in a row I cant get Coral Reef, and with making the ADR's 5 months in advance I still got Le Cellier for the late seating at 8:30p

When are you going? Did you tell them you are on the dining plan? Le Cellier is very popular as is the castle. Coral Reef usually isn't that hard to find. I don't care for the food there.

Sep 16-22...I could have gotten into Coral Reef on another day. Just did not want to rearrange all the other dates around Coral Reef. I guess I am just being inflexable

Coral Reef has been very booked lately. I called at 187 days (for mid-Sept) and could not get an ADR within 2 hours of when I wanted.

I'm not sure how many people are in your party... but try calling back and seeing if you added 2 people to your party if anything is available. They book ADRs based on party size & # or people... when you show up just say that the others were sick and could not make it. Sorry if this idea upsets anyone else.

Really...I will give that a try...There is only 2 of us..so I will tell them 3 thats still a 4 topper but only one not showing might not raise as many eye brows

Now you know how we locals feel. The free dining has made it nearly impossible for us to get last minute ressies at our favourite WDW restaurants.

Would not say that Coral Reef is my favorite since I have never eaten there before. Just changed my plans and found another place.

Free dining last 4 weeks. I live 985 miles from WDW. I never really get a chance to make a "last minute reservation."

Free dining makes it impossible for regular folks, and even a lot of free dining folks, to get ADRs. It's getting a little ridiculous. I feel extremely lucky to have gotten my Chef Mickey's, Liberty Tree Tavern, Tony's Town Square, and Sci-Fi Dine-In ADRs.

the promotion is sure helping Disneys 4th quarter. I have tried to book a room for the value resorts 9/16-22 the only thing that comes up are the moderates. Dont know if Disney is holding value rooms for people to book after the promotion ends but that would not make that much sense.

We went to the Coral Reef in 2005 and did not need a reservation. We walked in and they said it would be a short wait and within 10 min we had a seat.

There's nothing available for my dates anymore, AP rate or not, except for courtyard view at the WL and Saratoga Springs, both at rack rate. I have a ressie at AKL with the AP rate thru Pam at Kingdom Konsultants. I keep trying to get something else, and it doesn't look like it's happening.

Same thing happened to me for my trip this January...I was trying desperately to book a room the month before, but there was NOTHING available in value. I was about to book off-site when suddenly a week or so before I left value resorts came open again. Cut it a little close, but I got in. May be something similar happening again...good luck!

Alas, times change. And this is an unfortunate change. You won't be able to do that anymore.

The boys in the disney marketing department should be getting a big pat on there back. To fill up all those hotel rooms in a low season. I would love to see there bonus checks

Pam and Marie are the BEST....I would have been shut out of pofq if it wasnt for them!!!!!!

i know that i am going to sound like braggy braggerson here but i swear i don't mean to.

we are not going during the free dining promotion, and i couldn't be any happier. after hearing how many problems everyone seems to be having booking rooms and adr's I am so relieved that we don't have that problem. i know disney is generating more business and it also helps people with the financial crunch that comes with a trip to wdw, but it seems that it is going to be really busy at the parks and next to impossible to get adr's. from the earlier posts it seems like getting a ressie at coral reef is as difficult as getting a ressie at cindy's for breakfast.
we are going for the first part of our trip oct 3-7 on the DP, and i just called for all of our adr's and was scared that nothing would be available, and everything was with room to spare. even lecellier. i really am not trying to brag, but i am just so relieved that there was still adr's available. i know we called early, but i was really expecting doom and gloom ( a little dramatic, huh? i mean, i'm talking about dining reservations :veryconfu).

anyhoo, i am really happy for anyone who is going to be able to take advantage of the free dining, and really sorry that it's difficult to go full tilt with ressies being so difficult to get. good luck to all trying to get your ressies:)

Hmm... my dates are listed below and I had no problems with any ADRs... we're a group of two as well...

The only minor issue we had was actually with Coral Reef... but I think that had to do with tables for two people. Disney is not going to seat a party of 2 at a table for 4. We got a reservation for around 4:30pm, but that was the time we were looking for. Infact for all my other reservations I was able to get my pick of times: Le Cellier, Crystal Palace (D), Mama Melrose, Cape May Cafe (B), Planet Hollywood, and Donalds Breakfastsaurus... no issues at all.

For my dates the following resorts are still available with this promotion: Poly, BW, CBR, POR, CSR, OKW, and FW. I could book ANY other resort without the package, including PC and ASmo, in either standard or preferred.

I can understand locals frustration with this promotion, but I think It's only going to get worse as the Dinning Plan gains more interest. This will be my first time on the DDP, and from my readings, it's most likely something I'll pay for going forward. It's hard to "walk-in" to any place during ANY time of the year now... not just when "free dinning" is going on either.

Overall, I'm very happy with my dining times and restaurant selections, except we our ressie for Le Cellier, it's for 8:40pm! I've never eaten there and from all the rave reviews, I'm just glad to be getting in and will take what I can get! I am aware that free dining is causing ADR to become scarce! But am still a huge fan of free dining because we're getting to eat at places we've never eaten at before! We've always just been counter service people.

I got all of mine - even Coral Reef - for "normal" dinner and lunch times. The only one I had any trouble with was Sci Fi Drive-In. Even though I've heard the food is awful, we wanted to go once for the atmosphere. We're spending two evenings at the Studios, and the Sci Fi was only available at 4:00 or 4:10 the first evening so we switched it to our second evening at the Studios (6:10). The 50's Prime Time Cafe was available for normal dinner hours either night.
