We've just seen Shrek and I feel I must warn you that it takes several pops at Disney. The movie is fantastic and very funny at the expense of Disney there's even a hidden mickey to find.If you're precious about Disney it's not the film for you,if however you're not to serious about Walt Disney, you'll have a laugh about it.

One of my fellow computer animator friends works at PDI (the company that did the animation for shrek)...and he has been telling me for the past 3 years about all the very intentional disney slams that were being added to that movie....its sad...

Everyone will forget about shrek once Monsters Inc comes out (same thing happened with Antz and A bugs life)

I hate it when movies made by other companies poke fun at the World. It's annoying.

But....

I saw Shrek and I loved it! In fact, my whole Disney family loved it! I found absolutely nothing offensive. One scene made fun of theme parks in general with a few segments aimed at Disney, but it's even funnier if you are a Disney fan!

"(bla bla bla)... stay off the grass.
Shine your shoes and wipe your--- face!"
(sung by It's a Small World type dolls)

yes it was a great film which has brought in over 200 million dollars. must be nice to have a successful film.

i thought shrek was ok. it's a bit overrated, imho.

the first act drags a bit and i didn't laugh out loud until the "it's a small world" reference. the closing song-and-dance number leaves you feeling satisfied, even though you know there wasn't much there.

i heard that the disney folks had a chance to preview shrek to make sure they wouldn't be terribly offended. they weren't. the jabs were pretty mild.

Eh, in general I think peoplet get offened way to easily - I loved the Disney pokes, so if anyone gets offened at them - well that's their problem. I can't wait until Final Fantasy comes out though - man that is going to blow away all the CGI movies.

The one thing I did not like about Shrek was the fact that there were people standing in front of me during the first half hour of the movie. (And during the previews-I only saw part of the one for Final Fantasy! )

ehh...I have had the misfortune of seeing Final Fantasy in many of its production stages throughout the last few years..yes..its very pretty...Innovating...not really (it was supposed to be out over a year ago...but now the techniques and technology they used is incredibly outdated..at least from my view (me being a 3d animator))..the story...uh....what story? Just like all the games..there is no plot. Im not saying that you shouldnt see it..by all means..its still a very artistic and fun film...but dont go in there expecting much.

I still stand by my original statment...by the time Monsters Inc comes out..peolpe will have forgotten about shrek and Final Fantasy...and I can almost garuntee you that it will do a LOT better in the box office.

Also...I dont know if anyone else has heard this yet..but they are already in pre-production of a Shrek 2......too much of a good thing??? most likley...

How true is the movie to the book? It is one of our favorite stories, and the ads don't present characters very much like those in the book. Have they changed it a lot? We haven't been to see it yet because of our fears that they're changed it too much.

Sherk was not very good in my veiws but was the first of problaly many blockbuster from Dreamworks. This will put pressure on Disney to make better and more funny movies. Also Dreamworks does not have a Distibutior it use many different companies on like disney's Buena Vista Dist. which means you may see Disney take over Dreamworks.

Just seen Shrek today and loved it. Very funny esp the bit when Princess Fiona sings to the bird. Yes it does poke a little bit at Disney, but its not good to take oneself too seriously.:D :D

Shrek came to Mexico as a movie for kids, therefore, it is dubbed! I hate when they do that.... every single cartoon-like movie, is dubbed for kids! The rest of the movies are in the original language with subtitles (phew!!)
I will go see it because you all say it is good, but I am sure I won´t find it as amusing as you did.... once it is dubbed, it loses many of the inside jokes...
