Should Villains Be Able To Swat Away Autograph Books To Stay In Character?

(Inspired by a recent discussion about M&G characters using stamps instead of autographs.)

To me, it always seems extremely out of character to see a Disney villain signing an autograph book or posing for a family photo. After all...they're villains!

You wouldn't see Jafar, Maleficant, or Captain Hook doing this in their respective films, would you? Of course not...they're villains! If in the movie Aladdin, some kid runs up to Jafar, pulls on his cape & extends an autograph book to him, Jafar would most likely toast the 'lil brat with his Snake staff. Can you see Cruella De-Vil taking time out of her busy dog-chasing days to mingle with families & sign colorful books for kiddos?? Of course not!

So why do the villains do this blasphemous, out-of-character routine when at the parks? It ruins their image if you ask me. Here are some changes that need to be made with great haste:

From now on, when a child meets a villain character at a DisneyPark and extends an autograph book to be signed, the villain should be able to swat away/kick the book, throw the pen, you name it! Rude? No! Showmanship! It's all part of the show, and this would make the villains seem more IN character than they do today. The next time Mommy & Daddy ask Darth Vader to pose for a family picture with the kids, Darth should snatch away the camera, and Tom Brady it over the nearest fence without repercussion.

In conclusion, villains don't sign autographs. It's not in their nature. They don't pose with little Jenny, while holding her pink autograph book with sparkle stickers of Disney characters strewn on the cover...no, they REVOLT. They are villains, and such behavior is demeaning to their roots.

You thoughts?

Haha if they did that could they hire you as handler to stand there with the Kleenex and reassure each horrified child that Jaffar or Vader isn't going to hurt them?

Remember that video of Darth Maul shoving a kid during a parade? Disney is about happiness not kids screaming and running in terror. For the adults? Go to town!

Maybe you can think of it as the villians are prisoners (cm are the prison guards) this is their punishment for being evil. We waited in line to see darth vader. I find it very humourous all the Pink Princess books and giant flower pens he had to use to sign some of the little girls books. He also did a good job at being menacing too. Giving long glares at you, or walking through the ropes of the line to try and scare you.

true.
But then again, if they wanted to really be real, they would like remove their costume heads and say something like "hey kid, I'm just a guy in a costume - not real you know, just like Santa Claus"

@Nemo 14, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Nemo 14
, whether they be menor children, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes,Nemo 14, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no Nemo 14's. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.
You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, Nemo 14, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Nemo 14, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

To the OP, I don't think you can have characters shunning guests, just not good business. I like how the step sisters do it outside of cinderellas castle. You can really get them going if you tell them to be nice to Cinderella, then they break out their smiley face and take a nice pic. It's quite funny

I can see the Step Sisters posing for a photo or signing an autograph. They may be spoiled & have a grudge against Cinderella, but for them, it wouldn't be completely outta character as it would be for say, the evil queen from Snow White.
I love how the characters go above & beyond to stay in character, and bring the story to life. At Disneyland once, we saw Peter Pan playing hide & seek...keeping away from Captain Hook nearby.
Someone once told me (Not sure if it's true, since we've never tried this), that if you yell "Andy's Coming" in front of Woody, Jesse, or Buzz...they will fall to the ground, just like in the movie!
