New scenes would be nice, but I would rather them not add any new movies until we can tell what today's classics are. In other words, please no Armagedon or Pearl Harbor. :lookaroun

I disagree

Currently, GMR is a tribute to classic movies. Perhaps something can be done to make it a little more exciting or enveloping, but it is an excellent tribute to classic movies.

If it includes current movies, then it becomes a marketing tool. You'll be replacing the Tarzan scene with Lizzie McGuire, and Casablanca with Brother Bear. The movies they would insert have absolutely no business next to classics such as Alien and the Wizard of Oz.

I say kep the movies, but update some of the technology. If you look straight up in almost every scene, you see the structure for the building's roof. There is a large range of quality in the scenes in the ride. For example, the Public Enemy scene is one of the best out there, but the Fantasia scene is pretty pathetic. The Alien segments is one of my all-time favorites, but Moonlight Seranade really needs some work.

Yea i agree with you. Update the technology alot.... I know they did a refurbeshment last year. But i couldn't tell a difference. I think they update the ending video more then the ride itself. The begining with that movie of the woman swiming? I have no in hell of a idea what it is?

I love The Great Movie Ride. It's one of my favorites, but I would love to see it updated just a little. I agree that we should see what todays classics are before we put them in the ride, but there are many movies that we consider classics that could be added that aren't a pert of the experiance. Update the technology, add or change some movies, but don't add anything too new or too drastic.

Exactly. Somthing new needs to be done with the Fantasia scene, and the Moonlight Seranade. Plus, I don't like seeing the buildings struchture either, but it kind of gives you the feeling that you're on the soundstage where the movie is taking place.

The Great Movie Ride is really a good ride that has some awesome animtronics (Wicked Witch.) But it is time for an update. I really think that GMR could be a Indy type ride that takes you on a fast paced and highly detialed ride through the movies. I think that it would be important to find a core central theme that would provide a really good transition from scene to scene that is really rough right now. By changing it into a more exciting and exciting attractions that showcases some classics and modern films in fully immmersive atmosphere on mutiple levels and special effcets in a EMV ride system. The ride would finally breathe some life into the ride and allow the GMR to bring back a lower demographic wiith mild thrills and the more "classic" crowd with it's highly detailed sets with a ride through their favorite movies.

I just thought that maybe they could further enhance the ride with some in seat effects. They could also have the montage at the end be on a huge IMAX screen that literally wraps around your ride car.

What ever happened to the industrial fan that used to blow on the guests during the Fantasia scene??

I know it's still there, but it seems that thing hasn't worked in years! (at least not like it used to!)

They repainted everything, redid the sound system, reprogramed the animatronics (and I think maybe replaced the Gene Kelly one, but I'm not sure), and did a little tweeking to the script.

Well at the time they made the Great Movie Ride some of the movies they were basing the ride were not consider classic yet. For Example Alien was about ten years old, Raiders of the lost Ark about eight years old, etc.. Not to mention that at the conception of MGM these movies were not as old as I mentioned. Also you would think being affiliated with MGM they would have used one of MGM's greatest movies GONE WITH THE WIND.

I do not think they should change the GMR. It is just soooo much fun as it is. They are using some of the greatest movies of all times to show the guest how movies have evolved over the years. And it shows kids movies that they haven't seen and maybe will want to see now. The only thing I would like to see done would be to update the last movie. Shorten some of the clips they have and bring it up through 2003. If they could update that every few years, I think it could make a world of difference. But that's just my thoughts. Leave the rest the same, and update the movie sequence!!!

They do update the movie sequence. I am not sure how often but they do update it. One thing that stands out in my particularly is when they added armageddon to it. I don't know if there have been any more recent additions or not but I do remember that one.

The only movie I can think of that would be worthy of standing next to the existing diaramas is Goldfinger, or some other sort of James Bond movie. The spy movie/modern adventure genre is not at all represented in the ride, unless you count casablanca. Plus, 007 is already a UA/MGM property so liscensing shouldn't pose a big problem. I know there's already a 007 ride at some other non-Disney theme park, but the MGM connection should help. As far as particular scenes to add, I've been thinking about the laser room scene from Goldfinger because it involves mostly static figures, the special effect would be cheap and impressive (All you really need is a laser and a tiny bit of fog to make it visible) and the dialogue is the most memorable of any of the Bond films. I just doubt there's any room to squeeze it in.

The Bond rides are at the Paramount Parks, King's Dominian in Virginia and Carowinds in North/South Carolina. They are motion simulator rides (both the same).

The rehab from not too long ago, as meeko_33785 stated, had everything repainted, new sound system, some changes to the AA's, and some different things in the script. The major thing in it though, was that the scene where the gangster takes over your vehicle was replaced by a cowboy who takes your vehicle and a large fire scene where that happens. But the Raiders of the Lost Ark scene where the gangster went for the big jewel and was cursed is still the same.

They've always had both the gangster and the cowboy scenes. The scene you get just depends on which car you're in. If you're in the front car, you get hijacked by the bank robber in the cowboy scene and it you're in the back car, you get hijacked by the gangster.
