Nothing recharges the soul like an extended trip to the world that is Disney. Getting back to the real world after experiencing them first hand is always a downer. But I did happen to come across a interesting confrontation while enjoying myself, and cannot wait to share it, along with a interesting question.

And from the looks of things on this front page, Iam needed here badly.

Now while leaving Magic Kingdom to go to lunch at LeCellier last Tuesday, my family and I was walking down Main Street when all of a sudden a woman started yelling at a cast member over something I did not catch. The thing was when I noticed this woman I could tell from my experience she was going to lose it and promptly started raging at this poor cast member, calling her stupid and worthless. The woman's face got really red and to say she made a nice little scene was an understatement. But the cast member was a trooper, and took it in stride and wished her well. This womans husband grabbed her and told her they were going back to the Holiday Inn.

And that struck me. Now if this woman who just got done yelling at this poor cast member, prolly over nothing, was staying on property would she have yelled at the cast member until she was red in the face? What if it was more than yelling, like maybe a push or shove, would people staying on property do shuch things knowing they could get kicked off and lose an expensive vacation over something trivial? Would it change peoples thinking?

Now if you made the parks for the resort guests only, it would make people appreciate their vacation a little more, and force them to do the one thing they should be doing.

Having fun.

What do you think?

Honestly, resort accommodations don't make people stop being jerks. Some people think that employees of a company work FOR them instead of realizing that those people are employed to work WITH them.

For some, common courtesy and respect are dead. And we wonder why kids act the way they act....

But a Disney vacation is not cheap. If you force guests to stay on property in order to use the parks, I think you would see a huge change in people's behavior. It also might make people appreciate where they are at.

Actually, I find most people who spend more money tend to abuse employees more, not less. They start to have an inflated expectation of their own importance in the grand scheme of things simply based on the price paid.

You see similar things on cruise ships as well, and everyone there pays a premium to be there. I once saw a woman screaming at a concierge and saying some pretty racially disparaging things at a pretty exclusive Cabo resort.

More money never equals better behavior.

I beg to differ.

We have waterparks here in Wisconsin that offer the use of parks only for resort guests and I have never come across people yelling at either staff of guests. Maybe its a Wisconsin thing?

Disney has the money and land to build another 50 hotels if they want to, they would not only benefit from making such a move, but the quality of guest would improve as well. In my opinion.

Jimmy Thick-This should be persued...

This is a great idea. I'm also a proponent of $500 one day passes and $30 burgers at Cosmic Rays to make up for the revenue.

Day guests = money. Disney won't turn away money.

How much money does Disney make if they own all the hotels people can stay at if they want to use the parks? They can keep Downtown Disney open to the public, but the parks for resort guests only. Resort guests will outspend any local any day.

Jimmy Thick-My way, way more revenue.

Right, because local guests don't have the opportunity to visit more often than out of area ones. And still spend money at the parks, resort guests or not.....

As a local, I can tell you that you're wrong.

Jimmy, I understand your point of view BUT if the parks were exclusively for RESORT GUESTS ONLY, can you imagine how big the resort would have to be in order to accommodate the 10's of 1,000 guests that go to the parks collectively? And you thought that Walt Disney World is big now, wait til this scenario! I understand that having the parks open to resort guests only MIGHT be a better choice of PRIME guests, but a vacation would be out of reach for so many that are not like those other people and it would not be fair to them! What needs to happen with guests like this is the CM should call Management or Security and the guest is AUTOMATICALLY deported out of the park! Guests think that they are the only one in the park and they should get their way! NO! NO! NO! This is not the right answer! Guests share in tha magic and wonder we call a Dsiney Park! Therefore they must ACT like adults instead of REALLY playing up the "always be a kid" thing! You can be a kid again in any Disney PArk, but when it comes to situations like this when it requires us to be adults and act like it, why be a spectacle and show others how big of an A** you can be!

So let's just be conservative and say that for every one resort guest there are two people coming from off property even though that number skews way more towards the off property guests. Are resort guests now going to get to pay twice the price for food, merchandise, and admission since they are the only source of income into the park? Or maybe now that there are only resort guests they are going to be twice as hungry. I personally don't think that you believe this is a viable idea, and really just put it out there to see how people would react to something so outlandish.
