I know there is a thread debating whether or not they were a success... but do you think that they are an eyesore that needs to be removed?

Personally... I say hell yeah!! They are as ugly as could be....

Thoughts?

Yes

I think they should be moved, after all some people paid good money, in good faith, so that they would have a "legacy" on display for years to come and it would be a flat rip off to them if Disney just got rid of them. Having said that, the current location on the entry esplanade of Epcot's future world is horrible, nothing says a bright, shiny, wonderful future like a bunch of dark, granite monuments that look an awful lot like head stones. I have rumors that some people have even go so far as to deposit their deceased relatives ashes on or around the monuments.... Yuck!

Perhaps they could create a "granite garden" along the path from Epcot to Disney-MGM. Then not only would the legacy that people paid for still be there, the purchasers would be able to visit without paying park admissions.

At the risk of really being morbid, Disney could take it one step further and sanction people's ashes being left there for those fans that just couldn't get enough whilst they were alive. Of course that is assuming the Disney could legally do such things AND equally importantly they could assign a plot of land that really would be left for that purpose for ever. Sorry if this last paragraph offends or disgusts anyone.

I'm not one to jump on another "I HATE _________" thread, but I have to say that I've always felt that the LaL monuments were just about the only ugly things I've seen in WDW. So ugly, in fact, that for many years I thought that Disney threw them in as a temporary arrangement to stop potential truck bombs from driving into EPCOT until the entrance area could be redesigned. They are just totally lacking any imagination, and look completely out of place. Even more so than the wand, IMHO.

To those who spent money to buy tiles on them, I'm not trying to belittle you for doing so. Some of you have very heartfelt reasons for doing it. I just think they could be much more picturesquely displayed in another area, or garden as some have suggested.

Now let's talk about the hat...

No they aren't hurting anything leaving them there. If people don't like them close your eyes when you go in and out of the park.

You evidently never saw the big pink castle cake or the Stitch tagged castle....

Not until i can find where on Earth my legacy was in that endless patch of faces...

...It's amazing how many people look like Woopie Goldberg in them.

I'm on one of theme. I say move 'em and put them by the Contempoary. They'll blend in just fine.

You know, that's actually not such a bad idea! I like it.

Maybe they don't look the best, but they have special meaning to a lot of people. my mom and dad got a picture done when we went in 2000 and now we're all really glad that they did. Disney world was my dad's favorite place in the entire world (i mean, he was a huge fan! when disney first anounced his intentions for EPCOT, my dad was determined to live within the community of tomorrow. lol) and now its mine too. he passed away last year, so it's really kinda like a thing of solace to know that there's that little "legacy". i still think it was a really cool idea and i'm sure that there are many others who find special meaning in the leave a legacy monuments.
