Got it! I can understand if it was for just a short time, but if we are talking days...cover it up!!it was only down for less than an hour so that's not really an option unless it's a refurb or something

Hopefully he shakes and shimmies of WDW SM don’t leave you too disappointed (or sore). Having grown up in DLR SM, SM at WDW is just so...meh. I ride for my kids but if that line is long, I certainly don’t have withdrawal like I do at DLRI love PM & SM, love them both a TON. I just returned from DL and after riding SM there, my mind exploded, I just absolutely loved their version of SM. I go back to WDW the first week of March and am curious how my ride on SM is going to compare...
OP's question, leave it running and add to the uniqueness...

Funny last time we were there we experienced the reverse. Peoplemover was working but space mountain was down and they had it fully lit so you could see just what space mountain looked like inside the building... Sadly I can't unsee what we saw and I must admit I now now that Space Mountain is just a glorified mad mouse roller coaster... I doubt I'll ever see it as being as cool as I used to now that I've seen what Space Mountain really looks like when you turn on the lights... So be glad you only experienced Space Mountain with a little light pollution, if you would have seen it in full like you would really think your world was shattered. As a long time Disney fan and a former CM I'm all about "good show" at Disney. We were there 12/30-1/8 during a VERY busy time of year. I was able to get fastpasses for Space Mountain several times and one night that we were riding it, I noticed that Peoplemover was 101 (down) with the work lights on inside their track at Space Mountain and there was a LOT of light pollution inside the ride.
I've ridden space mountain more times than I can count and I've always wanted to ride it with the lights on, but honestly, with the light pollution from Peolemover it was just bad show. You could see parts of the SM track, you could see the peoplemover stopped and not working. Not a very good experience IMO if you've never ridden it before.
Now I get Disney was VERY busy and Space is one of the most popular rides at MK but I'm 99% sure if Peoplemover is 101 (especially with the work lights on) then Space should be 101 as well and vice versa.
Just my $.02
