Should Marvel have it’s own theme park

Yeah, but y'see, in Frozen's case, Disney didn't have to buy an entire company and franchise in order to make movies about it. In terms of costs vs. profit, I wonder if Frozen is indeed more profitable...
2013 and 2014 would be the only two times this would have been possible.

So the MCU breaks down as follows:
$22.5b box office
$7.2b merch
$5.4b home entertainment (DVDs mostly, D+ is not counted here)
take out the $4b they paid and thats $31b or so.

Frozen
$10.5b merch
$2.7b box office
$579m DVD
$185m broadway play

Thats roughly $14b.

So its not even close.

Black Series stuff sold well through everything. Regardless. Its just that the 'young' buyers are not there like they were for the other trilogies. Its mostly older collectors now.
So if you want to profit…you would target the largest generation with the most amount of money, no?

somebody send a carrier pigeon to the presidio and let them know 👍🏻😎

toys and kids arent the same as they used to be. Most kids would rather have digital, most toys are bought by adults. Even barbie and hot wheels arent what they were.
I’m aware…action figures are dead. Yet more “product” is sold to more people now than ever.

you just have to be smart enough to create it/distribute it

I mean, you get that's the minority opinion right? Endgame was the highest grossing film of all time, which included a lot of people over the age of 16.
It could be, but I'm not sure it's the majority. It is just that the majority of those fans actually get out and go to the movies and since they grew up playing video games they are drawn to it like a moth to a flame. That genre, like all others will be downgraded as soon as the majority of those that went to the movies, start careers, get married, have children and the like. Nothing ever stays the same.

Only one franchise (other than Disney properties) maintained the appeal through those stages…which is why it was/is unique.

and it’s the biggest mismanagement in Hollywood history as well

I think good parks need to have a balance of themes and IPs to attract as wide an audience as possible, these are big investments after all.

Marvel may provide some of the themes for a park but a whole park would be too niche to be sustainable in the longer term IMO

I don't think playing video games has much to do with superhero movies. I can't think of a single big-deal Marvel video game ever. Even amongst super heroes in general, the Batman Arkham games were good but by no means that cause of people becoming enamored with super heroes.

The Marvel movies (for the most part) are wildly successful (I think) because they're just plain good. The best ones have great characters, great storylines, and great action AND they're funny. And they are by no means "kiddie movies." Many have complicated themes, and there are certainly a few that I would not let my kid see.

I have no idea how long the superhero wave will last or if it's just part of the ongoing cycle of movie types at this point. But I'm on the line between gen X and millennial, and most of the Gen Xers and older Millennials that I know are watching the Marvel movies. These are people in their 30s and 40s. Also, this data is from 2018, but it's not just teens going to movies.

For the record though, I still think MCU as a whole theme park is not a great idea.

From what I read those are numbers for all movies, not necessarily Marvel or the like. so it really means nothing. My guess is that the majority of Marvel fans would be in the 2 to 24 age which would also be things other then Marvel. I don't have a problem with Marvel type genre, but I think that the real draw starts to decrease as one matures. (ages)

I don't think you can have a whole theme park as 1 IP. There's always going to be people that aren't Marvel or Star Wars fans and you got to have things for them in each park.
