Should I go? If so when?

We have gone to WDW the past 2 years in early Dec. I'm trying to decide if we are going to go back this year or not. The last 2 times we went, we loved the low crowds and weather in Dec but we also had our kids get sick both years and it put a big crimp in our vacations. I know kids get sick at anytime of the year but if we go back this year, I figure we would try to go before cold/flu season kicks in. So I'm thinking Sept/Oct or maybe just wait until May of 2010 after it's over. Anyone have any experience with these times of the year and the pluses and minuses, also I know Sept usually has free dining which is great, traditionally any discounts in Oct or May?

If you like the time of year, go! Do you get the flu shot for your kids? It might make the difference.

No we don't do flu shots in our household. They wouldn't have helped because my son ended up getting bronchitis this year and had some virus last year and my daughter had a virus with a high fever and being really tired at the beginning of the week this year and by the last day had a stomach thing that she so kindly passed to everyone when we got home. I guess I'm trying to lessen any chance of dealing with sick kids again on vacation. As I said I know all too well nothings a guarantee but you get burned 2 years in a row at the same time of the year, I just feel why tempt fate?

I've been in October, May, December, July, August, April.....the list goes on and on.

December is my favorite time to visit for obvious reasons. All the extra Christmas stuff is the biggest plus, but I also love the weather. Of all the times I have visited, with the exception of December, May would be my second choice. It is hotter when compared to December, but not too terribly bad. (Keep in mind I am from south Georgia, which has pretty much the same climate as Orlando.) The parks are at a moderate level when it comes to crowds. Plus, The Flower and Garden Festival at EPCOT is simply stunning.

I say branch out and try May. If not May, go in September. I've never been that month because of school, but I hear great things about that time of the year.

We've done September and October a few times and loved it. September has had the free dining in the past, but that leads to a bit more people heading there. I'd vote for early October, Sure the weather is about the same as May, but you could go to MNSSHP for a good time.

We used to do October and loved it. Weather can be very warm, one year was in the 90's. The crowds were not that big and we still had a good time. Did get a little busier around Columbus day weekend. The only reason we changed to early December was that my job requirements changed and Sept thru Nov are my busy times. Otherwise I think we would probably still be doing October.

I also love Disney in early December. My other favorite is in May. It's after the Easter crowds, after the spring break crowds, but before the school crowds. The major perk there is that the crowds are minimal. The weather is usually perfect, and it makes for a very relaxing trip.

A big bonus for me, is that Epcot has their flower show going on which is beautiful! It adds something new to the trip if you've never seen it.

I have been January, April/May, July, August, September, October and November. Must say I love April/May timeframe best for weather. I do however, like the October time because of the Halloween party, plus good weather. Haven't done it in last 5 years (due to getting married, having a baby & falling in love with the Christmas party), so I don't know how bad the crowds get. January was 20 degrees or so a few mornings, will never do that again. I can stay in NJ if I want that! July was way to crazy with crowds. Last week of August wasn't bad because most kids down there have gone back to school. Was a bit humid, but bearable. September's trip was rescheduled 2 times because of hurricanes. Ended up going and it was great weather, but we were on our way back to the airport as another hurricane was about to hit. We were actually the last plane to take off from MCO. Not fun! Mid-November is fun because of the Christmas party. This year was a bummer because they decided to hold of the rest of "Christmas" until after Thanksgiving, but the previous two years we had the Osborne lights, Epcot decorated, and the parade over at AK was holidays already. We booked this year early, and then they released the dates for the decorations and we were bummed. It wasn't the same without all the decorations, but we survived. It's Disney, it can't be bad!
