Should I get an Annual Pass On My Next Visit?

Thank you Darkbeer!

This really puts into perspective just how expensive Disneyland is. Granted no other parks come close, the value of other places are undeniably tempting. I am a Costco member and briefly brush past the Universal Hollywood deal every time i'm there. I should probably take it more seriously!

Note, I am not saying to not visit Disneyland and the Anaheim area. Please come and visit.

But do take a look at other things. Heck, the Hurricane Harbor deal, look at it as 2 visits to the Arizona location in 2020 for just $29 each time. Then look at the free parking, the free access to Magic Mountain, Discovery Kingdom, and other parks depending on your travels. (I am just looking at the Southwest area.)

But say find lodging near the Ocean in the San Diego area (Heck, plenty of Arizona license plates can be found in the area). Go to the parks, the Zoo, the USS Midway, plenty of Museums (Balboa Park), and much more, Get on a boat cruise.

From Anaheim, maybe drive through the Cleveland National Forest, take the Palms to Pines highway, go visit Catalina Island (great Zipline course), Long Beach, home of the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Queen Mary, etc). Go to an Angels or Ducks game. Go visit the Dad Miller Golf Course, where Tiger Woods learned the game. (Walking distance to my house). Check out the three Dinner Shows in Buena Park.

Plenty of Outlet Shopping choices in Southern California. Also plenty of Indian Casinos.

Visit the Palm Springs area, take the Tram. Visit the Cabazon Dinosaurs.

I can go on about different ways to drive from Arizona to Southern California, check out Route 66 and the town of Oatman, visit the original London Bridge, if they right time of the year, the city of Calico, and one of my favorites, Mitchell Caverns.

Yes, please visit and enjoy Theme Parks, but not make it the only focus, there is a lot of things to see and do in Southern California!

DCA has nothing that Disneyland doesn't do better... so it's really not worth the added cost.

This is never more clear then when you are overlooking the ROA. Went to TSI and took this shot. Well it’s actually just an edit of the second shot. Those fine people walked to the dock at the last second while taking my panorama. As i took this shot I compared DL to DCA and there is no comparison. Although I don’t think it’s DCAs fault. In other words, it’s not DCA’s fault that it’s not Disneyland. Most parks will fall way short when compared to it. The fact that it’s a short walk away only makes it so much more clear.

* both of these are meant to be viewed as Panoramas

I really wish they sold a pass that was Disneyland Park only... That let you in most days, just at a slightly lower price point then the current offerings. DCA has nothing that Disneyland doesn't do better... so it's really not worth the added cost.

For me personally, my favorite things are Fantasmic, Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones Adventure. One of which is half the show it was 3 years ago. The other three are horrifically maintained and are basically falling apart. Really disheartening. I struggle to see how the price of most of the AP's could be at all worth it for someone who doesn't live close enough to go on a whim... given the huge cuts in staffing, entertainment, maintenance, and just the overall decline in service quality.

I'm hoping Disney refocuses on providing an exceptional experience in time for the 75 anniversary.

AGREE AGREE AGREE. I bet they won't do it though because they have no confidence for DCA to stand on its own. Technically that is justified, but I would've kept going to DCA easy had they kept ToT, MV3D, SoC.. heck even maliboomer was better than that stupid inside out filler.

So far I'm leaning harder towards no. The price probably isn't worth it for now.

DCA's biggest issue is it's price. A day ticket costs the same as Disneyland. What a rip off.

Until a standalone ticket is lowered to Six Flags prices, people will always view DCA as a supplement or add on to Disneyland.

Absolutely. As it stands now i'd pay maybe 20 - 30 bucks max to get in to DCA per day. So the AP would be probably 80 - 90% Disneyland time. I'll ride Chase a Baby and GotG all day if I must, but It'd be strictly for my lady / family. I just can't find the value in IP makeovers.
