Should I attempt a solo trip?

I guess I should provide a little clarification to my support of solo trips. My DH is not a Disney fan, he went twice went DD was small, but has no interest in going again. And my daughter is grown and now living in Japan, so it does make it easy for me to justify going by myself. I'm not really depriving my family of my sterling company for a week!:D Hubby goes to Montana hunting for 2 weeks every year, and believe me, I have no desire to go with him at all!

I agree, solo trips are not for everyone, but if you're comfortable spending time by yourself, and your family is OK with it, I see no reason why you can't have an enjoyable, albeit different, time at WDW.

We need time for things to happen.
I haven't gone solo, but having gone a few hundred days to WDW with family over the years, I think that I would spend the whole time thinking about them.

This times a million.

WDW to me IS spending time with my family. As much as I love that d*mn place if I was there without the family four pack it would be a major downer.

That's just me. I wouldn't fault you (or anyone) for going without their family because if you can go and have a good time then while the he!! not?

I've been to both DLR and WDW on solo trips. Once had a "friend" bail on me two days before the flight. Regardless, I have enjoyed all of my solo trips as much as I've enjoyed trips with friends and family. It certainly is a different experience, but one that is what you make it.

You can do rope-drop to closing if you like. Or take a more leisurely pace (my personal preference) to do and see what YOU want. Some people can be intimidated by dining solo at TS restaurants, but I find it can be more intimidating to the server. (They need to find that fine line between rushing you and not paying enough attention to you.) Plus, I always have some kind of reading material or am completely absorbed by the atmosphere. There's always the chance to strike up a conversation with nearby diners too, just for something completely different.

If you're a comfortable-in-your-own-skin type; solo trips can be stress free, relaxing and a heck of a lot of fun.

I have to admit, I'd be a bit nervous to fly out to CA by myself, but I wouldn't have any trouble going to ORLANDO by myself.;) I'd meet a friend or 2 out in CA though.;)
@Rogue21 The rope drop to closing would be what I would do, as my DH and DSs always "poop out" on me.
I agree...as much as I'd love to see Disneyland, I probably wouldn't fly to Cali on my own but driving to WDW...that I can do with my eyes closed!

Solo travel isn't so bad once you get used to it. I had to fly to Phoenix and thought I was close enough to DLR to drive from there - a mere six hour drive. Nice way to see some of the country. And long flights are a great way to read the latest "bestseller".

I am also not the best morning person while on vacation. I don't believe we were put on this earth to be awake before 6 a.m. :D I hear the alarm at 6:01 just for that reason. On my upcoming October trip I may have a few 7:00 a.m. mornings, but only because my sister is going and she's an early riser. (And first timer too!)

Of course, on the other end of that is the late nights; which I don't usually have problems with. Seeing the Kiss Goodnight is a goal for this trip, so we'll see how everything mixes.

@Rogue21 Oh- you know I will. Like I said earlier, I still haven't even attempted to ask DH yet.:coldfeet: I want to go so badly! It wouldn't cost much. I would ask for it as a birthday/Christmas "gift".:cat: I'll keep you posted my Disney friend! Cool- 88 days! WOO HOO!:cat:

I am so angry with my "not so" DH right now.:devilish:
We took a trip to WDW in June, and then a short trip w/ my Mom to Ocean City, Md.
He will be going to a Joyce Meyer conference Aug 8-12 in Hershey. I thought it'd be nice for all of us to go not too expensive. He actually said "NO".
Now I am more determined than ever to plan this solo trip! I work too you know! I will keep you all posted. Thanks for listening to my rant.:depressed:

There are actually some very good deals/sales on bookit.com for Boardwalk Inn and AKL. I've never used their site before, and it just seems to be such a low price: $1,485.83 for 3 nights and 3 day tickets plus flights! AKL was $1,336.38. It all depended upon where you flew out of ( BWI more expensive than Reagan National). A DL trip on the DL website @ Best Western Stovall's Inn was only $1,089.10. But, this was November and I'd have to take 3 days off!:banghead:
Since DH works nights, they'd have to spend the nights over grandparents.:cautious: Oh well. Messy house sounds good.
Love ya Figgy! Take care and I will keep you posted on the "drama".
