Yes, the movie is under the old deal. However, it wouldn't be smart for Disney to use it that way when they wouldn't be able to make sequels or anything (new) to do with the franchise once the deal is done with.

As far as the movie not being a success ... the same has been said about all the other Pixar movies before they were released. Why pass judgement on something that won't be out til next year?

Within the current deal Disney has full rights to make sequels to any of the five Disney Pixar films. This doesn't "expire" after the final film is delivered and the rights to the film remain under the ownership of Disney.

But, I agree, NO Cars overlay at all! I dislike the idea.

As far as the success of the film, who knows. Although the Incrediables did no where near Finding Nemo in box office takes. IMO, the Cars trailer looks like the weakest of the Disney Pixar films by far.

I said scrap it, because I don't like the other two choices. Don't keep it the same, but don't theme it to Herbie either. The point is, pick one of three areas (Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, or Toontown Fair) and redo the ride to one of these ideas. The ride itself should only stay if it gets very extensive new theming.

Scrap Indy. I am surprised that there has been little mention of NASCAR theming. Considering its popularity around the country I would think if done right it would be a big draw.

while that would probably be very popular, i don't think it fits in the Magic Kingdom...

The problem is, I don't see how whats there fits into TL and or FL.

I think that living it as is a good idea. A herbie makeover would be cool and up to date but I like it the way it is. Yes it is loud, and it doesnt sound good, but a little kid loves the feeling of driving. When I was kid I loved watchin my dad drive a car. I dont know if its just me but I love this attraction when I was a kid.

Dont' scrap it until they find suitable replacements for the 20K Leagues area. Let's build up the empty space we have first, then scrap and build some more.

Herbie blows. Maybe if they "undigitalized" Lohan and made an AA I could go along with it.

Then again, I don't understand the Lohan obssession, she is waaaaay overrated.

I've never been a fan of this. I just don't understand it. Its nice, but its not "Disney-special", IMO. In its place, something that tells a story, please!

I LOVED :sohappy: driving the cars when I was a kid with my dad by my side and I'm sure kids today love it just as much. I think it needs to stay but maybe should have a big overhaul. Make the cars more enviromentally firiendly and less noisy by maybe switching to hydrogen fuel cells or electric to help cut out that smell. I think they need to make the cars a little easier to steer (though some ppl like them to be such a challenge). When my 9 year old cousin was down last year he had a hard time and kept bouncing back and forth off the rail and ended up crying, poor little guy. I think this is a classic even though there is not much theming. So many people have such great memories with it I believe it should stay.

Leave it as is. Remember what it was like as a child to go to Disney and drive the cars? I know it's on a track, but you just can't beat the thrill of driving a car at a young age!

I was able to see what it's like this past year when my 3 year old niece came to the world. She gave that center track a battle, but the track held strong! The bottom line, she drove a car like her parents, and she couldn't wait to go again!

Amen. My 3 year old was Jeff Gordon for a while in those cars, an I got possibly one of the best video clips of my vacation on that ride. Maybe if you are looking for a Herbie tie-in, you update the cars to NASCAR styled cars, throw a few Herbies in the mix, and then you can promote Walt Disney World Speedway (Get the adults over to the Petty Experience) and the Movies. Imagine the speedway with NASCAR styled cars and Herbies passing thru them. People would line up to try just to get a Herbie Car. Of course, my sone would want the 24 :lookaroun

How about Jungle Cruise? In my opinion that one has the lowest fun/square feet ratio

KEEP JUNGLE CRUISE!!! It's a classic! Disney has been slowly getting rid of all their other classics. At least keep this one!:D

And keep the Indy Speedway! It's another classic!

Judging by the number of people who stand in line for it, it is as popular as ever. Its not very "Tomorrowland" though and is in desperate need of an update or replacement

Please no. I am in favor of making a different auto car ride out of Indy Speedway, but don't put a ride in there based on that horrible Herbie movie. That movie really sucked, and I think this would be a bad idea to make a ride based on it. I can't bear the though of standing in line and seeing a picture of Lindasy Lohan (she is a terrible actress!) in the qeue area. I would have to abstain from going on the ride. Message to Disney.....We don't need anymore rides/attractions based on really bad movies! We already have Tarzan Rocks wasn't that bad enough.

One of the funniest things is to watch the kids drive the cars. It cracks me up everytime. I rarely wait in the hot line to go on the ride myself. I really feel sorry for the CM's that have to work that ride. That is one hot job.

For those who wanna scrap Indy, keep in mind I felt the same until our last visit.

Next time you are there, grab a seat. Just sit back and watch some of the kids' faces as they are driving. It is so cute and funny. Some of them could not even see over the steering wheel. I have not gone on that ride since I was about 6. Since 2001, I would wish they would put something "better" there. Until I saw how much joy that stupid ride brings to those kids.

I still stand by moving the entrance to Pete's Garage in TTF and making it a drive through ToonTown featuring other characters' houses. Put up some walls to transition it to TomorrowLand (and theme whatever character is where the current load station is to a futuristic house). That way it would not require a lot of work, woudl create a huge new attraction that REALLY appeals to kids and would allow a better queue to be designed.

I think they should come up with an all new attraction that would actually fit into tomorrow land theme. They could do like a virtual racing simulator similar to some of the NASCAR ones I have seen, but more futuristic like F-Zero.

i voted to scrap it....... sorry, even as a kid......... my go-cart went 10 times as fast. :p

herbie: hmmm, i think it would have a temporary boost in attendance, but it would probably thin out again worse then Lindsey herself. i do however think that the original ideas (with the interactive car) would be fun for kids.

Cars: i think that this is the best bet if there is a major refurb. the movie looks promising...... and we all know that at least half of the kid population (boys) all go through a car stage in their lives. some havent outgrown it yet.

all in all, im not saying that the attraction has attendence probs or not, i have no ideas, but 90% of the people i talk to dont waste the time riding.
