should BB be open all winter?

The reason they close them (one at a time) is to do maintenance work that can't be done during the busier seasons.

Well I would rather visit a winter-themed park during the summer. In the winter its already winter, right?

Also I'd imagine that attendance at the water parks is way down during the cooler months at WDW and it makes sense from an economic standpoint to have their maintenance closures then.

I see what you're saying but I don't know if I'd want them to switch the schedule
BB tend to be a more popular water park, so I think it's better to have that one open when it gets warmer out and more guests are attending...

Each year, Disney closes one of the Water Parks in Nov/Dec then the other in Jan/Feb. The schedule is rotated each year so each park can be seen decorated for the holiday season every other year. As other have stated, the closure is due to routine general maintenance and refurbishment during the slower months.

This year Blizzard Beach closed Nov/Dec 07 and Typhoon Lagoon will be close Jan/Feb 08. Next winter, Typhoon Lagoon will close Nov/Dec 08 and Blizzard Beach will close Jan/Feb 09.

Hope this helps!:sohappy:

sorry but that dosnt make any sense. MK stays open all the time and all night but they still upkeep the park and dont need to close it for even a day. Same with the other parks.

There's a whole other world of maintenance that needs to be done on water parks specifically. Just think about it.

correct, you can't just fix the waterpark issues over night. You have to completely drain everything as part of your routine maintenance. It's also not necessary to have both of them operating all of the time. There's not enough demand to have them both operating when it can get still fairly cold even in Orlando.

Actually Blizzard is not necessarily more popular. It appears that way because blizzard closes more often, however BB closes to capacity because it is half the size (in capacity) of typhoon lagoon. Typhoon's capacity with the addition of Hidaway Bay (the crush area) is a little over 14,000. Blizzard's capacity is about half of that.
