Should Animal Kingdom build more water rides?

No more water rides, the older I get the less I like getting wet on rides and don't care to go on them even though I really like most of Splash Mt. Maybe AK just needs another dark ride in air conditioning.

They need something. I appreciate the attention to realism and all, but geez. It's just the hottest place on earth, as best I can tell, and there's very little relief.
When it first opened, the heat was worse. Over the last 15 years, they have added a lot of features, like fans, misters, and coverings, to help cool people off.

We go in the fall or winter. I don't like getting wet. Florida can have it's cold days in the winter. Not fun to be wet when it is cold. Therefore, we tend to avoid the rapids ride. Even with a raincoat you can get wet. I'm sure in the summer it is a lot of fun at AK. We learned on Splash Mt. to sit in the back. Sometimes I carry a poncho.

I'm in favor of more rides in general. A log flume ride, sure. A boat ride exploring mythical animals. Some dark rides themed to Disney movies: Jungle Book, Robin Hood (all animal cast), Rescuers, etc. For whatever reason, AK feel like the park that is most un-Disney to me. Is that a word? No, but you get my point. MK and Hollywood feel like Disney to me and I know that not every ride needs to tie in to a movie but the only rides or shows that have a strong character presence is "Tough to be a Bug", Nemo, and Lion King. I dunno. Maybe it's just me....But I'm all about more rides.

I never got this. AK is easily the hottest theme park in the country. I see people practically ready to collapse from the heat and drowning in their own sweat. Despite this, the place has just 1 water ride that often gets up to a 2 hour wait and is usually in the 80 minute range. Shouldn't this be an indication that the place needs more water rides?
that would be cool to have a water ride in Avatar Land?

I kind of agree. By kind of, I mean I really love boat-based rides and absolutely think the more the merrier. But if they do any more at AK, there should be a couple more in the vein of Pirates where you don't end up getting wet (or barely anyways). But boat rides can be incredibly atmospheric and cool. And with a water-based trench, they help hide the fact you're on a ride than tracks do IMO.

Not to say AK couldn't use a good new log flume in the vein of Splash Mountain. Jungle Book I figure would work pretty well with that type of ride (and it's one of the few Disney movies that would fit nicely with the theme of the park without causing anyone to go nuts). But on top of that, i'd like at least two others that are more calm and don't get you very wet, focusing more on atmosphere and show.

I've already stated my idea on these forums to do a large scale and lengthy multi-level EPCOT-style boat ride through the history of prehistoric extinct species of animals (with a couple of very minor drops just to get you to the next level, nothing that intense or wet). It would be built in Dinoland (the land now renamed Prehistoria to encompass more extinct animals than just dinosaurs), replacing Chester & Hester's carnival for a far more elegant, entertaining and substantial experience.

I like the original concept of Kali known as Tiger River. It was going to be a water-based safari ride in rafts (actual ones, not the off the shelf round ones found everywhere), and was much longer with actual scenes and animals to look at. And given the general opinion about Kali around here, I doubt it would bother anyone to see it close down for a while to redo and expand it.

Also like Empress Lilly's idea about an Arctic/Antarctic ride. Seaworld really squandered their opportunity to do theirs, i'd like to see what Disney could do with such an idea in Animal Kingdom.

If Avatar absolutely must happen, I at least want to see that proposed boat ride. That was actually the element I was most excited for. AK needs more rides everyone can go on without worrying about height limits or thrills, just really well done and detailed ones with show scenes and animatronics. There's too few of those.
Hurrah to all of it! Especially Prehistoria.

I have always felt that DHS was the hottest park of the four! there are not many attractions so wandering around amongst the crowds in the sun since there is little coverage and areas to hide. I think now with the rumoured refurb of the park the Mouse may want to consider a water ride here instead.

I love water rides, so I say OF COURSE! Or just more air conditioning/fans in waiting areas. AK is definitely the park I sweat the most. LOL

I think a flume ride could work there. I've heard some interesting ideas for how one could be themed for the Animal Kingdom. I'd also like to see a couple more indoor rides or attractions, but that's mostly because I'm always a fan of any kind of dark ride.

Perhaps a indoor boat ride for Avatarland. If it ever gets built.

And they should add some misting stations. I have no clue if there even are any because I have only been to AK in the winter.

As a few people already mentioned here, I'd love to see a Splash Mt./PotC style boat ride themed to the Jungle Book, not just for the air conditioning, but the music for Jungle Book is so great. I think AK could really use some classic Disney films represented in the park it's the one thing AK is really missing, and a classic Disney animatronic/show ride with some Sherman Brothers music?
...can't beat it:D
