I think if people really wanted to visit other Disney resorts, they'd save up for it. I'm on the polar opposite of Florida, and flights are expensive, but I'm going to make it happen because I want to go to WDW.

Fair points here. The thread title asked if you can judge either or without visiting them and the obvious answer seems to be "no" here. I made it a pact to get to California someday starting in 2010 after being in WDW twice in the last 6 months. That dream happened in 2012 and to be honest I had some skeptical moments until I finally made it there and experienced it. Now, there is no doubt in my mind that Southern California offers up just as much for a trip as Central Florida can. My personal opinion is that as a Disney fanatic you are cheating yourself out of more joy and experiences if you never visit the other.

I love them both!
So many different things to enjoy in each place...
that yes, you really do need to see them BOTH...at least once in your lifetime.

Hands down yes. Disneyland is in way better shape than WDW right now. It's the original park plus a great second gate. A must do for a true Disney fan!
