Does Disney World offer shopping passes like Disneyland? You pay for a ticket up front, go shopping for an hour, then when you return you get your money back for the ticket?
Im going to try to get my sister to go to Orlando with me when on Vacation to go cheeck out Mouse Surplus. I was thinking sincec Im over there why not go check out some shopping at Magic Kingdom or Epcot.
I know my sister would love to go to Epcot to shop.
Has anyone done this before?
Can I go to more than one Park to do this?
I don't want to abuse the privilege, but I'd love to take my sister to epcot then go to Mk. I mean I woulde def. be spending some major cash at the stores if i could.

Hmm not too certain but when I was in Disneyland it seemed they were a little more leniant with certain things... With WDW being as popular as it is (and it being more popular than the original Disneyland), I don't think they might offer these "shopping tickets"...

How would they know if you're really shopping and not seeing the attractions?

Or do you have to pay for a full admission ticket?

Maybe i'm a little confused...

There have been a couple of threads about this, and I think the final conclusion was that they used to do it, but they don't anymore. I could be wrong - try doing a search.

Yeah, you pay for a park admission ticket and go in.

To actually monitor if people are just going in for attractions, they often ask to see a receipt.

And they are really strick on the hour part. If you come back past an hour, you can't get a refund.

Interesting concept... I wonder how many people go in ... stand in short lines for a ride... then buy something from a store on their way out.. that way when they're like , "an hour and only 1 store?" ........... :lookaroun "i couldnt decide what i wanted."

I have an annual pass but we inquired for a friend of mine who wanted a mickey hat for his niece with her name on it. This was at MGM. I was going to buy it for him myself but they allowed him to purchase a one day ticket and then refunded him the money with the receipt of the transaction from the shop. I might be wrong but I thought he had 90 minutes to do this in. It was really nice seeing how I never knew they offered this. This was in March 07 by the way.

About 5 years ago I bought a Jiminy Cricket Big Fig on Main Street. I notice he had a crack and wanted to exchange him for a new one , they let me go in without a tix. I did not try to take advantage of the free enterence and was in and out in less than 1/2 hr.

Yeah...I've see nthis done before when I was working on Main Street...not something that happens often, but they offered back before 9/11 for sure...

1) Yes, they still have a "shopping pass".
2) However, it is NOT a pass to go in and browse.
3) It is meant for people to buy something specific they forgot earlier.
4) You cannot use it to go in and wonder around looking for purchases.
5) It works like this
. . . go to Guest Services
. . . tell them WHAT you want to buy and WHERE you are buying it
. . . give a credit card imprint for a 1-day pass
. . . enter park and buy the item(s) specified
. . . return to Guest Services within the 45-60 minute time window
. . . show yous item(s) and receipt(s)
. . . credit card slip is destroyed
. . . if you don't return on time, you are charged the full 1-day rate

That is awesome! I didn't know that they did this!

They no longer have the shopping passes as a rule, but it seems there may be a way around that if you find a kind CM at Guest Relations... from allearsnet...'

I have heard you can get a one hour shopping pass, what is this?

This was available from Guest Relations at the major parks at one time but seems it has largely gone the way of the dinosaurs. A 'shopping pass' as they were called is part of a "time limit" admission media. Distributing a time limit pass is an exception to the general admission media rules. All time limit admission media is distributed at the sole discretion of the Guest Relations CM distributing the media. Most will not allow it to be done anymore. My advice is if one CM tells you there is no such thing as a shopping pass that you ask him/her to check with their supervisor.
Part of the demise of these "shopping pass" admissions has been the result of Disney Merchandising. At one time, each park had many items that were specific to that park and were only available at that park. For example, a Splash Mountain sweatshirt could only be had in the Magic Kingdom itself. But now, the existence of park specific merchandise is extremely limited. A higher percentage of park merchandise is just as available outside the actual Theme Parks as inside their gates.
Just in case you find yourself the rare exception and still manage to obtain a one hour park shopping pass, here is how it works. This shopping pass is available only at the Guest Relations window at the four major parks. The deal is you must put a charge card imprint (they may take cash for it but I'm not sure) equal to the amount of a one day park pass at full price. You will have one hour to enter the park and do your shopping or whatever.
If you do not make it back to the same Guest Relations window within an hour, they will put your charge through as a purchase and you become the owner of a one day pass. If you do get back in time, the charge slip is voided and it will have cost you nothing.
This was set up to allow people to go back to a park to purchase an item or items that they forgot and are only available in the park. Only one person in your party will be allowed in on the shopping pass.

Thanks so much for the Info. I think I might go to try.

I know that I really do want Mickey Post earrings. Does anyone know a specific store that sells them? I think I remember seeing them in a shop on Mainstreet. I also would like some ears, I've never actually had a pair and forgot them last time we were there. (Sad times when you buy everything else for all your friends and then forget what you wanted).

I'm sure my sister would know somethings that she wanted also. She really loves the store in the Japan World Showcase and I think there were somethings she wanted, but didn't get.

I would go for a day at Disney, we just don't have the time. If it doesn't work out, maybe I'll buy a park hopper one day, kinda a waste just to shop and maybe hit a ride or two, but I really want somethings from Disney.

If you know what you want you can always also call WDW merchandizing (mousesavers.com has the phone number) and order the products to be shipped to your home. I did that when my son decided he wanted a 50th anniversary DL gold train for his birthday after we got home to NJ from WDW and they shipped it quickly and safely...and the price of shipping the huge train and track was about $10.

I bought mine (costume jewelry) at the Mercantile in the WL. Seems to me that most resort stores have much of the same merchandise. They come with different color stones or you can get the "gold" or "silver" plain ones.

If you are looking for the real deal you would have to hit a jewelry store in one of the parks.

If you call WDW merchandizing and describe them they may be able to get them for you.

I know which ones you are talking about. I don't know if they are made anymore though.

Dtd...

I would definitely check out downtown disney. I would go there before you go to the parks. I used to shop there all the time and found the same things and more in DTD. I got the gold 50th anniv. train there and the gold ears there. You can get anything disney there without being in the parks. IMHO!

1. Not true, "Shopping Passes" do not exist

Let me highlight the important parts of the Disney Policy

All time limit admission media is distributed at the sole discretion of the Guest Relations CM distributing the media. Most will not allow it to be done anymore.
