Hi Folks!
I purchased new BF Goodrich Tires at Costco but Costco only balances them. Costco chooses not to have the equipment to do the alignment. Therefore the customer is given a 15% certificate for certain businesses that DO offer alignments. Yet I found a chain auto service place that wasn't in Costco's participating network and this chain's base price for an alignment still beat the in network's price even after their 15% discount.
So....as for my OP question.
Pep Boys' base price for an alignment on my AWD 2020 Mazda CX-9 was $99.99.
I expected that the only thing added on my bill would be tax....but NO...in addition to tax was a "SHOP FEE" of $9.99
So after the Shop Fee and the tax, my final total cost was $117.27
In the past I never questioned a "shop fee" during an oil change because they have to dispose of the old oil.
I feel a shop fee on an alignment is just ripping the customer off. Besides the labor, What are the shop's additional costs that are incurred as the guy aligns my tires?
Thoughts anyone?
