ORLANDO -- Two people have reportedly been shot at the Wet ‘n Wild water park.

It appears the shooting was the result of a fight between two student groups who were at the water park.

Witnesses at the scene tell News 13 those groups were in the process of being escorted out of the park when the shooting began in the parking lot.

The two victims were both taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center. There is no word yet on their condition.

Traffic on International Drive is slow between Kirkman Road and Universal Boulevard because of the investigation.

News 13 has a crew at the scene. Stay with us for the latest.

I can say I regret living here.
Come on over... Uni's are cheaper here, and you expect the crime when you come to this part of the world.

Who knows, maybe you'll get a tan and learn a new language too!

It's seems that the locals are starting to bite the hands that feed it.

Not really locals. Seems 2 rival schools from South Florida chose today to
take 1800 students on field trips to Wet and Wild.

A fight started between kids in the park, security arrived quickly but the rowdy teens started throwing chairs at security. The whole group of kids were escorted out of the park. I heard the shots were fired in the parking lot. One kid was shot in the leg another in the mouth. Both were students from the schools as far as I know . One person was arrested for interfering with law officers, but so far no one is charged with the shooting and looks like no one is telling who fired the gun.

Now if they are with a school group how did they get a gun on the buses? Don't they search bags on any school trip?
Did they make it into the parks with the gun? If so then the parks-including Disney and Sea World need to take longer and get nosy in the searches even if it takes us longer to get in the park.
Thank God they didn't start firing the gun in the park.

I never had my stuff searched on a school trip and I dont believe they made it in the park with a weapon I think if they had this would have been much worse. As for the the crime here in Orlando, yeah its bad, in certain parts, it is just like every other town in America. Orlando is a great place to live and I dont plan on leaving cause of the crime.

Some wonderfully racist folks in the comments section for the story.

I don't think this has too much of an effect on tourism here just because these kids apparently knew each other already. The things tourists are going to really worry about are the hotel room invasions, seemingly random shootings/theft, and failed pipe bombing attempts. Two gangs of high schoolers who decided to use a parking lot as a staging area for their fight isn't quite the same in my eyes.

We were in Orlando two weeks ago. We stayed at the Hawthorne Suites right near Wet and Wild. While the hotel itself was nice, the area surrounding it was a dump! We were only there for 3 days to try Universal ( I hated it!) Somehow it doesn't surprise me that this incident occured there - it looked like a free for all everytime we drove past.

Have things really deteriorated in that area. I just realized that I have not been on I-Drive and surrounding area for years. I remember certain parts of it were barren land when I was a kid. We used to stay at a marriott that was near wet n wild but it was nice.

I've always been very concerned with the lack of real security screening at Disney, because when something like that happens at Disney it gets 1,000 more bad press than anywhere else, as we all know.

Let's just hope Disney learns from this before it's too late, and perhaps there is some way to start revamping things, such as having screening of tour groups as they exit buses, having bomb detection on entering vehicles, etc.

There would be some cost, but it wouldn't be as much as a major new attraction.
