Shoes at Typhoon Lagoon

Do you have to wear shoes to enter Typhoon Lagoon? The reason I ask is because I am cheap, and do not want to spend $15 on a locker rental. Or, does anyone have advice on how to avoid renting a locker at the water parks? I will be there alone so won't have anyone to hold my stuff.

Do you plan on leaving your shoes in the car? Or riding the bus barefoot? You can probably buy a cheap pair of flip flops to have something on your feet and then just leave them by a chair while you use the water slides. The pavement gets pretty hot so you might want them while walking around the park.

You can just leave your stuff at a chair as take it with you as you move from area to area. We've never rented lockers either and never had a problem losing our stuff... *knock on wood*. We only leave shoes/towels though. We've used water wallets in the past to bring our cell phones and our Key to the World/credit cards with us. Now, with MagicBands, you could go with even less.

Not sure if it's required for entrance, but I would think you'd want to wear shoes going into the park at least. It's honestly not that much of a hassle. Also, the ground can get pretty hot. :P

LOL good point. I was going to walk on the sidewalk from the car but yes, I'll just buy a pair of cheap flip flops from the dollar store. Definitely not Singapore Sals! :-p

NO, No shoes required. I have NEVER used a locker at the water parks, now that is because i just take a towel small bag for phone and money. I wear water shoes sometimes so ill wear those in other wise its just the small bag, towel and shirt that i put on a chair and thats it. i also use board shorts that dry fast. now i get it if your someone that likes to completely change you might want to put stuff into a locker, but if you dont want to you can leave it on a chair with your group. I have never had any problems doing that.

Do you want to lose your wallet, phone, and keys? Or have the water ruin your phone? It might be smarter to just spend a negligible $15 than to have to spend thousands to deal with identity fraud when you lose your valuables.

I’ve gone by myself a few times to the water parks and will leave a change of clothes and towel in a bag at a chair. They’re usually cheap stuff, so if someone wants to take off with them, they must be desperate and I won’t get too upset.

You can buy waterproof pouches that you can wear that will hold key, phone, and money. Sometimes I don’t bring a phone in with me since I’m not using it much while there.

Word of warning on those pouches. I once had one burst open in the deepest end of the wave pool. Had to make a choice of what to save - car keys or credit cards. Got the keys, but the cards were swept away into the drainage system never to be seen again.

Yeah, good point, I wouldn’t take them in the wave pool. I think most of them say they’re not supposed to be submerged over 2 ft or something, so be careful when purchasing one because quality varies and if you’re doing a lot of the rides and hanging out in deep water, I would just skip the pouch because they get in the way for heavy duty activities. Most times when I go, I’m not there for the whole day, so I pack the bare minimum and don’t need a pouch or the lockers, but it is an option.

I went to the passholders free night at TL last month, id say in regards to the lockers, either to either deal w the cost and pay the $10 for a small locker if you drove and have keys, or if you’re staying at a WDW resort to just bring only essentials (towel, bands and maybe sunscreen?) if you are just parking your stuff on a beach chair. I wouldn’t keep my money and keys on me unless I’m not going on rides/wave pool.

The water shoes were handy, only had to take them off on the single person slides, which wasn’t a big deal.

I can not believe people rent lockers at those 2 water parks... ......for what reason? What a nonsensical use of $15.

Yeah they do have depth limits. The one that failed on me was a serious one, rated at something like 50ft depth.

To...not lose your stuff?

In the 90’s as a teen, I’d leave my stuff wrapped up in a towel in a beach chair and just not worry about it, but back then my belongings consisted of my annual pass, shoes, and $6 for food and arcade games. My belongings are a little more valuable now.

If you can leave all of that stuff in your car or resort, then yeah, I’d leave my clothes and a towel somewhere, but personally I’m not testing the limits of ‘waterproof’ items w my keys and cards
