On a side note, Bob Iger was in Bentonville, Arkansas today, meeting with Wal-Mart executives. I did not know that. I myself was in Bentonville today just down the street from the Wal-Mart home office. I should've hopped on over and snuck into the meeting, using my old defunct Wal-Mart employee discount card. It might've worked, I tell's ya's!!!

Friends, I think we are witnessing the beginning of a shake up. This isn't just effecting Disney, this is sending ripples throughout Hollywood.

God, with Depp ed at this, we may never see him (Depp) in anything made by Disney EVER AGAIN.

Man, the effects of this news is gonna be BIG. This blows major.

You think Cook would go to another studio??

Decent guy and no doubt a nice person. These situations are always tough. But let's be honest, it's been a bit hit and miss over his career.

He had a good run but I'm sure this has a lot to do with wanting a more modern global vision and I am sure that will be the priority in finding his replacement.

And if Depp walks that just means other projects get green lighted. Of course, I noticed con didn't provide any links for his claims.

Truly a non-story in the grand scheme of things. Back to sleep. :snore:

I don't think, now that evidence shows Cook resigned, that Depp will will walk out on the movie. He would be disappointing millions of fans across the world. Also to argue the other side, we are about to get Alice in Wonderland, PatF, Rapunzel, Sorceror's Apprentice, ect. Aside from a Chihuahua movie and some guinea pigs, the last few years weren't that bad.

You nailed it scar. Exactly 100% correct about Depp. He probably didn't have the entire story when he reacted.

Disney live action movies have a lot invested in the next couple years worth of films. They want blockbusters. In my opinion Disney has been too inconsistent in delivering those. New blood and vision were absolutely essential at this time IMO.

PaTF and Rapunzel are under the WDAS banner (although yes technically they are part of the movie banner). The film division has been terrible and doesn't look to be getting any better Sorceror's apprentice will bomb as will that new Travolta picture. Many are complaining that Prince of Persia looks stale (the director they chose is terrible).

I sorta predicted this too, TBQH. I'm not a Cage fan at all.

Why is everyone upset?

If quality is the best business plan, why is everyone mourning the loss? I realize he is a veteren but Disney has been putting out garbage under his oversight for years.

Examples:
G-Force, Hannah Montana: The Movie, Race to Witch Mountain, Jonas Brothers Concert, Bedtime Stories, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, College Road Trip, National Treasure 2, The Game Plane, Underdog, The Santa Clause 3, Bridge to Terebithia, Invincible, The gy Dog, Glory Road.
And that's just within the past 3 years.

He is a bad executive who has made bad decisions. Point Blank. End of story. And, rumor has it that Lasseter will get the job. I think everyone can agree that it will be an upgrade. And even if a Marvel executive gets the position, that doesn't mean anything for the parks. Parks and Resorts is a separate division that has no relations with the Studios.

And just to hammer my point home, ________ Cook is the man who greenlit the Cheapquals that have been derided on forums such as this. He gave the goahead for Pooh's Heffalump Movie, Return to Neverland, Bambi II, Cinderella II and III, etc.

Just because he has been there for years doesn't mean he was perfect or talented. I hope he finds employment elsewhere or enjoys retirement, but aside from that, bring on the change!

I wish this could have ended better, but I think that Disney's been upset with the live action performance for a while. Hopefully they get a suitable replacement.

The Director? Jake Gillenhall (sp?) is easily the worst casting of a movie I've ever heard of. They had EVERYTHING banking on this thing being the next POTC and now it looks like it may be one of the biggest bombs in recent memory.

My sentiments exactly. If they broke ties with Jerry, I think that would have more impact that D. Cook's leaving. I'd love to see Lasseter take the helm for a while. There is a person who people like and can tell a good story in film.

Personally I hope that Lasseter stays where he is. I think a big-event movie executive is probably going to replace Cook.
