Shhhhh...don't tell... It's a JIMINYCR Secret

DW & I are going to WDW to celebrate her Birthday and our 30th Anniversary. So I've been working on making this trip extraordinarily special for her. In the past I have managed to pull a lot of surprises on her for different occasions. For example, years ago for our 7th anniversary I rented out a hot air balloon ride for us and for 2 hours we floated high above taking in the beautiful Maine scenery. Now that she is in a wheelchair she looks back fondly on that ride, knowing another one is probably not going to happen. ( We are planning to go on Characters in Flight, but it's not the same. ) For our 10th anniversary I rented out a stretch Limo and we went to a 5 star restaurant and finished off the evening at the theater. For her 40th Birthday I rented out her favorite restaurant and invited all her friends and she was Queen for the night. For her 50th birthday I scoured the internet and came up with 50 different Jiminy Cricket gifts to give her. So yeah, I like to do something special and let her know how much she means to me and how much I appreciate her.

Surprise # 1. When we booked this upcoming WDW trip, she asked friends to come along. They said they couldn't go in Sept. So on the way to Disney we will stop in NJ, to visit and have dinner with them. Stay in a hotel and continue on our way the next morning alone. Or thats what she thinks. The next morning the friends will meet us for breakfast and announce that they are joining us on the trip. ( These people are the ones who raised the service dog she just got in Feb. ) Check out the Sept trip meet forum for previously photos posted.

Surprise # 2. On April 1st when we booked the Sept trip I began scouring the forums and learned about planning a private Disney special event. Working with an event planner we came up with a Birthday party... To Happen On Her Birthday. I have rented out a VIP area in the American Pavillion, which will be decorated, we will be served birthday cake, assorted desserts, drinks, etc. I have a box of Jiminy presents to give her at the party. Then this will be followed up by us being led outside to a private VIP seating for Illuminations.

Surprise # 3. I also arranged for ..... Jiminy Cricket to appear and be part of the party. THIS was a detail I never dreamed could happen... but the Disney event planner came through for me.

Surprise # 4. Several days later the fun continues with a Birthday Wishes Cruise on Bay Lake, decorated boat, more cake and assorted food.

Surprise # 5. A specially designed 30th Anniversary cake , with Jiminy Cricket on it to appear at our BOG dinner.

Thanks Disney Events planners..for all you do to make the Magic happen...
Oh... My DW doesnt visit these forums... so she won't know this is happening. I just wanted to tell you, but Shhhh...don't tell... It's a JIMINYCR secret.

Wow, I think this is great. I took my wife on our 25th a few years ago and surprised her with a few small things and we have been back every year since. I hope it is the best of times. Looking to hear about it. Enjoy.

Holy Cow!! 18 more days? Our trips must overlap??!?!?! Maybe I'll get to see your festivities? That would be amazing! I'll be in Epcot on September 16th - is that the night of your party? (I'm not inviting myself, by any means, but I definitely will want to keep an eye out for such an amazing get together!)

Lots of people overlapping dates. We are planning to be at Epcot on the 16th in the morning but the Bday party is earlier in the week, on the 12th. Yeah, we could meet on the 16th & let you know how it went. We can set up some meet time or look for us in your travels ?? On the evening of the 16th we are park hopping over to MK have BOG reservations for celebrating our anniversary .

Thanks for the kind words and the well wishes. She just got word that she has another infection so its back on antibiotics til the day before we leave. She was hoping she wouldnt have to go to Disney on medication, so its working out that way. If things go like they have been lately she should be feeling well for our entire stay.

Your wife is one lucky woman to have such a thoughtful husband. My sister used to work as a Disney event planner before she became a Disney wedding planner and she would have loved to have a guest like you. She was always so touched by husbands like you who plan wonderful surprises for their spouses. Happy Anniversary to you both. May you celebrate at least another 30 anniversaries together! I can't wait to hear what you do for your 50th anniversary!

Ha! Well, maybe we can high-5 on the monorail, because we'll be park-hopping from MK over to Epcot for dinner! Well, actually we'll be coming from WL to Epcot - the DS (3) has to take a nap in the afternoon. So, unfortunately, I can't commit to anything between the hours of bascially 1pm and 4 pm because we never know what time he'll go down or get up (oh the joys of parenthood...). I'm bummed I won't be there to see the festivities - they sound amazing! Have a great time!!

Thanks, better get that nap in and not deal with a fussy kid at Disney. ;) Well, just keep an eye out for us and who knows, maybe we can run into one another somewhere along the way . Look on ... Hi my name is...under the WDW Meetups, for our photos, and look for her dog & w/c with a Jiminy on the back, or my Jiminy riding on my backpack. If you see me... yell out... Hey JIMINYCR...

Thanks for the kind words...What a great job for your sister to have... making peoples dreams come true and make magic every day. She must have some great stories to tell.
Hmmmm 50th???? Guess I'll have to start saving big bucks for that one....that will have to be a real doozie. Maybe I'll do all the foreign Disney parks .... I should be well into my retirement by then....
