My DW and I are finalizing our trip to WDW in June and we'll be staying at the Sheraton Vistana Villages. Has anyone else stayed there and if so what was your experience like? Facilities, cleanliness, location, etc....

It was nice enough, and an easy drive to WDW. No "magic" or sense while you're there that WDW is nearby. My daughter got violentally ill the one time we ate at the restaurant.

I am an owner at the Villages and we love it there. The rooms are nicely equipted with full kitchens, marble counter tops, seperate dining rooms, jacuzzi tubs, screened porches...all the ammenities of home and more. The pool area is great and they have activities throughout the day. It is an easy 5-10 minute drive to the World.

We always stop at the Publix and pick up food for the week and cook our breakfasts or dinners when not in the park.

Not to sound like a commercial for Sheraton but we think it's great. Just don't fall into the trap of going to their 45 minute presentation. they may offer you $50 and free breakfast, but it will turn into a 3 hour hard sell. they dont take no for an answer.

have fun!!

We rented a condo there for a week about three years ago. I believe many of the units there were undergoing renovation, although the one we stayed in was still dated. But it was clean, very close to the parks, and had a wide variety of shopping/dining options outside of WDW.....

We got this reservation from a relative who had an extra week. No tours for us though! Been down that road! Are the kitchens well equipped?

They took no for an answer from us, but they were openly hostile about it.

Kitchens have all of your daily conveniences. From coffee maker/dish washer/ to can openers, collanders, flatware, servings dishes, just about everything you could need. In room washer/dryer is nice convenience also.

Vistana Villages, not to be confused with Vistana which is much older is a great place to enjoy your stay. We stayed in the Key West section last October with my brother and his wife.
Villas are spacious and very clean and modern. There is a Publix and Walgreens right down the street along with the outlet mall. Plenty of restaurants near by.
When checking in, completely avoid picking up your "Welcome Pack." This is when they hound you to take a tour of the resort. A very stern "NO" usually gives them the hint. However they will still call you in your Villa from time to time. I unplug my phone. My family can call me on my cell phone.
Have a great time.

I found that when we stayed at the Vistana, simply ignoring the telephone in the condo was the best course of action. We figured since we had our cell phones (and anyone back home who needed to reach us would call that number) that the condo one was unnecessary....

Completely agree on all posts above. Avoid the telephone and welcome pack. And yes, the Sheraton Villages are the newer complex and Sheraton Resorts being the older. The resort have had a recent spruce up but still some of the older models are dated. The villages are still under construction and many are less then a year old.

There is a shuttle provided by Sheraton to the World but obviously times are limited.

The kid zone refered to is(as far as I know) only reserved to park your kids while they give you their sales deomostration.

fwiw, i'm an owner at the villages and couldn't be happier. really close to disney and also other orlando parks if you're planning on going. awesome pool, pretty good pool-side food, very clean, fast about getting stuff to you if you request it (towels, toilet paper, etc). they don't hassle me about the presentation but that's probably because i'm already an owner lol

there's also now a separate counter with CMs to help you pick and plan your park tickets for disney. pretty convenient.
