My parents are planning to go with us in october, and we are debating the DDP for them. They dont eat a lot of food at any one time, but we would like for them to experience some of the TS rests. Does disney allow sharing of meals?

Do you mean in general, or on the dining plan?

In general, if you are paying out of pocket, yes. I'm not sure if there may be a plate charge.

Dining plan? I would be very surprised if it is allowed. Otherwise, half of the guests who purchase it would only purchase one plan, instead of two.

That wouldn't be possible. The DDP has to be purchased for everyone on the same room reservation.

I think it would be allowed, but likely there would be a plate charge and beverages for one would be charged as well. Best bet is to ask at the restaurant, I suspect each might have its own rules.

Monty is right - it's up to each restaurant. Most allow it without charging anything for an extra plate, whether or not you're on the DDP - they just charge one TS credit. Obviously this does not apply to buffets, character meals, or the Fantasmic Dinner Package.

We've split TS dinners on the dining plan at Coral Reef, Rose & Crown, San Angel, Tony's, Chefs de France and other places. You never know when policies might change, but we've never had a problem doing this. My wife & kids are not big eaters, and we'd be throwing away a lot of food if we didn't split TS meals sometimes. Nobody benefits from that.

Thanks Monty - I thought that the DDP was an all or nothing proposition, for the exact reason I mentioned - people would end up buying one, and then sharing meals. I think the economic feasibility of the plan to WDW is having as many people as possible purchasing it, knowing that many people will not fully utilize it.

I wouldn't, which is why I've never bought it. ;)

so we could share on the DDP? Thats pretty awesome. I was under the impression that if one used points the other had to as well. Sometimes the amount of food they serve is way too much and I always feel guilty wasting the food.

thanks for the clarification. in this case the DDP isnt worth it for my parents, they would never eat all the food or probably use all the points.
