Perhaps instead of a “please stop the generational insults” message, despite a lack of generational insults, the Mom should say something on this.

All I’ll say is that morals weren't created in the clouds and dropped upon humanity, they are something that have been defined naturally over a long period of time through societal interaction, in a world that hasn’t been as connected as it is today. People in different cultures behave differently, but we only view that as objectively worse or better through our experiences in our own cultures, which is often self-centric and heavily biased. Understanding the above is kind of meta and definitely more complicated than being kind to your neighbor, but just like every other moral was defined through social interaction, so will that be, given time.
Morality is not fluid. There is a definitive right and wrong, a good and evil. I don't want to drive this thread way off topic so feel free to message me if you want to debate the topic at all, but just because you cross the border into a country that holds human sacrifices doesn't make the act right.

No need to continue the conversation. This is just good evidence of how morals, knowledge, and understanding are shaped by society over time, a process which is still continuing today. There are also areas in which I can, and need to, grow as a person.

You’re right, we probably should not continue this conversation. I’ll cut with this:

I just want people to think twice before they look down on their fellow Americans. We are reluctant to criticize other cultures/nationalities for fear of being intolerant, but we are quick to criticize our own people. Have a little civic pride is all I ask. We need it now more than ever. Be better than those who try to divide us.

Anyone who looks at the average American 200 years ago and compares it to now should realize there’s a ton to be proud of, while also realizing there’s a lot to work towards.

I’ll try to shift the conversation back by asking if anyone has any reports of how it’s actually working at SDL. Like how smoothly things are running, how happy guests are, how profitable it is, etc. Based on my most recent trip to a theme park, recalling all of the squishing and tightness that occurred, I’m wondering if or how they’ve managed to keep people socially distanced in every aspect on the experience. Galaxy’s Edge and Runaway Railway were open and some people still pushed past each other to get in a giant line for Starbucks. Unless I’m not looking in the right places, there’s surprisingly little info on this.

There probably won't be more coverage until another Disney park opens unfortunately. There's just not a lot of English-language coverage for Shanghai, probably less than any of the other parks.

The guidelines are reasonable although I'm curious how it'll work in the States when Karen demands to speak to the regional manager because little Timmy needs "muh freedom" by being closer than 6 feet for his photo with Mickey.
The Karens and Jeffs will scream and yell at the poor CMs and guest service CMs on how it's a violation of constitutional rights that they should be wearing masks. They already deal with tons of entitled guests pre pandemic. I feel sorry for what is yet to come.

Can you please give an example of something “disgusting” that has been said? Are you referring to my posts? @TROR posts? Was it his mention of Chinese tourists pushing up against him in line? Was it his (or my own) description of college classmates who were Chinese? I think we’ve both been clear we weren’t making blanket statements. But if these are real life experiences, it is what it is. Maybe his classmates were rich, rude, and racist. Mine happened to be very pleasant. Look, tolerance is important and all - but telling the truth is even more important.

I guess you didn't extend the post I quoted, but it's in bold comments that PirateMansion stated that I was agreeing with. And yes its disgusting...and typical.
