Shampoo and such

In a recent thread I was reading about what people do with the shampoo, lotion, ect. provided by the hotels. Some people donate theirs, others list them on ebay. What do you do with yours?

Also, I would have expected a better quality of shampoo, ect. at the Disney hotels than what you get. Some hotels in the country, like the W, charge about the same prices or less and have designer bath products. Disney seems to skimp on that a bit. Just my opinion:)

Woody,
I have to ask, do you consider taking the soap and shampoo stealing?
I want to throw in my 2 cents.:D I don't think taking the soap/shampoo out of the resort is necessarily stealing, since it is an amenity of the hotel(its offered daily weather you use it or not). Given the small size of the shampoo bottle it could be assumed that one could go thru at least a bottle a day, Disney has already assumed this is the case, thus a new bottle everyday. Since the shampoo would/could have been used during my stay anyway, it was simply my choice to wash my hair with soap and shove the shampoo bottle in my bag.:lookaroun

Bath product companies would jump at the chance to be exclusive Disney products and more than likely offer a great deal to have exclusive rights.
You can say that again!

I could honestly see it, though. Let's say the room could come with a family assortment of bath products... little bottles of Johnson & Johnson baby bath and shampoo... little bottles of Pantene shampoo and conditioner... a Dial hand washing bar... an Aveno facial cleansing bar... a Zest body bar...

Yes. I am fantasizing here, but the concept makes sense! It would be something nice for the whole family!

Exactly! Wouldn't it be great if you didn't expect great products and you walk into a bathroom filled with fun stuff. Just another opportunity for Disney to spoil us:)

Right! And you know what I thought of... Suave!

Suave and Disney could pair up. Suave makes baby shampoo/body wash, tearless fruity kid shampoo, masculine smelling shampoo for men, flowery shampoo for women, and a variety of liquid body washes for men, women and children alike!

I have the same problem. I get itchy and extremely dry skin when I use it.

Excuse me for putting my foot in my mouth, but is it in fact Ivory soap that Disney uses for it's resort bar soaps?
When I was there in Sept. the soap was not stamped "Ivory" but, it sure smelled like it, and my hands broke out in blotches.

I think that would be a good indicator!

Sorry, not laughing at your misfortune Gail, just the situation!

I bet Disney has already explored that one.

I do like your fantasies, however. :)

Suave? LOL. I fear that brand would not make me rush out and purchase anything in their line.

A few years ago I spoke with my vacation guide about the soaps they used at OKW. He found some information re: the soap brand. At that time Disney was having them made just for them. Up until this past Sept. they were still using that kind of soap. I do wish I could find someone that sold it as it was wonderful, smelled good and softened the skin.
I think they teamed up with Ivory. The shampoo is the same and it is absolutely the pits. I think it does a great job on whitewalls, however. ;)

Personally, on vacation, I don't chance the soap or the shampoo and have purchased little bottle to put the shampoo in and I have a nifty little soap dish that I carry my soap in.

As to spoiling us, I am sure there are many ways they already do. I am not sure I would feel all that spoiled with fancy soap or shampoo. I had a load of nice stuff when we stayed at AKL and I did not feel all that spoiled. Guess it takes more for me than most. LOL

LOL, well, happily I only did that once. I did not take it you were laughing at me, so, no worries there.

The cheap orange shampoo Disney is now using is called Jhirmack. It can be found in most hotel chains across the US. I assume Disney switched to this to save money, since about 85% of the US hotel chains stock this brand, it must be a good deal to buy in bulk. Its sad Disney has again cut a simple guest luxury in the name of saving a buck, thus taking away from the Disney charm. It might be small, but it was enough of a change for us to notice.

DVC must have been using that for years, mainly because that is the only kind I can remember since 93.
I seem to recall the same stuff at AKL in 2001.

What's wrong with Suave? Have you had a bad experience with Suave? Yes it's $0.99 shampoo and conditioner, but are you honestly telling me that if they offered a family line of it at Disney you would shun at it?

I could have swore it was pro-V :). At any rate, Suave is a good product and it works in my hair which is a big plus for me:animwink:
The idea I sort of had though was like brands like Aveda **dreamy**

Other hotels don't supply 20K+ rooms with them daily. :)

Actually, for that reason, Disney's quality of soaps and shampoos should be better than many other hotels. I would understand the skimping if these 20K+ rooms were all Motel 6 prices. But Disney charges a lot for their rooms. They're making a ton. Most other hotels that charge those rates do tend to offer better amenities.

Yes, yes I would. Suave tests on animals last I heard. As I stated before, I bring my own stuff.

Pro V is a white creamy color for the conditioner and shampoo in one and clear for just the shampoo.

Now Merlin, all those other swanky hotels/resorts don't have Michael Eisner to pay. ;)
