Shade at Typhoon Lagoon

OK, I have never been to TL. My daughter is old enough and an accomplished swimmer where I do not have to fear (still watching and next to her though). If weather holds out 4-weeks from now, we will probably go twice.

My question is where are good places for day long shade?

We will want to stake our claim on 1 lounge chair to stow our stuff and be out of the sun when we take a break or eat or whatever.

You will find sporadic areas all over the park that provide good shade, but the area I prefer is next to the Shark Reef. It is not the most convenient location for access to the entire, park but it is out of the way and close to concessions and restrooms. You will however need to get to the park before opening and stake your claim ASAP. If you roll in at noon, finding a space anywhere could be difficult. You will be there in the off season for water parks which should make is a little easier, but I would still not risk a late arrival.

Another option you have is to reserve a premium beach chair in the area known as Getaway Glen. This new offering includes 2 lounge chairs, an umbrella, a cocktail table and 2 towels. The cost should be in $45-$55 range. Yet another option is renting a Beachcomber Shack. They include the personalized services of an attendant, private lockers, all-day drink mugs, cooler with bottled water, lounge furniture, tables, and rental towels. The attendant will also offer advice and help with food and drink orders. The cost will be in the $230-$350 range for the shack.

Thanks for the info. We are early risers and in the parks at rope drop. TL opens at 10AM, I expect we will be waiting for a bus by 8:45AM-ish. I would rather be waiting at the front of the line of a park instead of the front of a line for a late bus.

I hadn't heard about those Shacks before. What is the demand on those? Can you get them same day or do you need to reserve them far in advance?

The demand might not be super high, but as I understand it there are only 4 of them so they do book up. If it is something you want to do, I would call 407-WDW-PLAY as soon as you can and get it reserved.

Both of my adult children are certified trainers of Ellis lifeguards, the lifeguard training certification system Disney uses for their lifeguards. Amazed by the amount of parents who just let their children wander on their own in a water park.

Plus TL has had its share of creeps in the wave pool. Yay! for the parents that keep an eye on their kids.

Our favorite place for shade at TL is any of the three huts in the sand just past Crush 'n' Gusher and just before Typhoon Tilly's. They are large and always seem to have available space. I think people assume they need to be rented, but they do not.

What Yoda said. There are TONS of places that are shaded you can just cool it out and relax. Typhoon Lagoon is one of my favorite parts of Disney!

Thanks for all the info. I expect the TL day to be 10AM - 5PM. 7-hours of running around slide to slide, old legs wearing out, and running some more. Then, after cleaning up, can we go see the fireworks?
