While there was once plans to create a walkway around the lagoon, the plans never came to completion. There is a section of the completed walkway in front of the Magic Kingdom that leads off toward the Grand Floridian but it ends somewhat before a canal that leads into the backstage area.

Not entirely.

You can walk from the Poly to the GF, MK and finish at the Contemporary. There is however no path between the Contemporary and the Poly.

You are correct. There is no bridge across the canal. My mistake.

I think that they should finish it. Why would you stop something but not plan to finish it.

Disney is a business and if a project doesn't serve a useful purpose or provide revenue then the company has to really think about its necessity. It would also be hard to monitor from a safety and security standpointl.

Disney is also not too keen on having guests wonder into work areas unless it is unavoidable. The front of the Magic Kindom is anything but safe and quiet after the park closes. Its just easier to keep people from being able to travel there on foot.

Possibly a lost of interest. The existing path is made up of those bricks that could be purchased and personalized by guests. My guess is when the sales of these bricks slumped to almost nothing the plan was cut short.

Did you know you can still buy those bricks. Just gotta say pretty please to the excutive offices :)

Walking from the grand floridian to the polynesian during the evening is beautiful.
We usually eat at ohanas at polynesian. then take the monorail to the grand floridian, then walk back to the polynisian.

If your going to the MK. Get off at the Contemporary. Then walk to the MK. Not far and its a nice walk.

If your looking for more walking. Go to Boardwalk near Epcot and MGM. From that area you can walk to both of those theme parks.

Even if there was a path, you could not walk around 7 seas lagoon as there is no way to get accross the connection to what I believe is called Bay Lake (Where the Wilderness Lodge and Ft. Wilderness are).

The last orders for bricks were taken in July 2000. They had plenty of orders and still get many requests for purchase of bricks. They continued the program out at Disneyland.

They never intended on running the path all the way around because that service canal is where the Electrical Water Pageant is stored and they did not want to have to build a bridge over that canal.

This information came from the person in charge of the bricks purchase and you can still replace existing bricks with a new brick for $50 but that is only if you already have one.
