Pre-Trip September is too far away

To say Disney is our family thing is an understatement. Every year (sometimes twice a year) since I was little, my family made our annual pilgrimage to Disney during the summer. People thought we were crazy. We never wanted to vacation anywhere else and that hasn't changed as my brother and I have grown up. So, even now at the ages of 31 and 27, my brother and I still take part in the annual trip with our family. I have loved reading these trip reports, so I'm excited and nervous to post my first pre-trip report. Away we go:

The Cast of Characters:

Disney Mom and Dad.jpg Mom, dad and I during our 2011 trip.
Disney Andrew and me.jpg Brother and I during the same 2011 trip (I apparently have no pictures of all four of us together).

Where and When:

September 22-27 in a 2BR Beach Club Villa

Why:
Because we can, lol. The real reason is that my brother lives overseas and doesn't get to visit home very often. I work in a fast-paced, high stress job that leaves little time for travel, so I haven't been able to go visit him. My parents live an hour from me and I see them all the time. We decided a family vacation was in order so we all could relax and enjoy spending time together in our favorite place on Earth.

The Plan:
My brother will be flying in from Israel (to St.Louis) on September 19th. I have to work until around 1pm on September 21 and we will depart from downtown STL at that point. The plan is to drive for about 10-11 hours that night and finish the rest of the drive Monday. We have five day park hoppers so we hope to go straight to the parks once we arrive. After that, the planning is up in the air. My 180 days is next Wednesday, so hopefully I will have some dining plans after that. We really want to try Be Our Guest (my parents were lucky enough to get a FP+ for it when they went last October) and our other must-do, Chef Mickeys. It's my dads absolute favorite. Other than that, we probably will play it by ear.

So, I guess that's the jist of my first trip report. Hope it wasn't too boring and I look forward to updating everyone as we get closer!

I'm very excited! My brother and I did a quick 3 day trip last August and my parents went for a week in October. I probably picked the worst week to be away from work but that's ok. I think I will have earned my vacation by then!

We need time for things to happen.
I'll be down 25th - Oct 2nd and your d*mn right --- it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too far away.

Awesome that you and your brother still join the Ps for the annual trip.
I'm hoping my kids will have that attitude in the not so distant future. :)

We definitely still enjoy going with my parents. It's a great time with very few distractions for all of us. My mom and I are probably the most excited about it.

Well, today is our 180 day mark! I woke up and was online at 5am to try and get Be Our Guest. Much to my chagrin (but not unexpected), I wasn't able to get a reservation. I'm not giving up hope yet and will keep trying. Brother is also working with American Express (apparently they save tables for preferred members) to find one while we are there. I was able to get everything else on my list, so here is what we will be feasting on:

Monday, September 22nd-Dinner @ Chef Mickey's
Tuesday, September 23rd-Dinner @ Crystal Palace
Wednesday, September 24th-Lunch @LeCellier
Thursday, September 25th-Fantasmic Package Dinner at Mama Melrose's
Friday, September 26th-TBD
We will probably fill in a few more sit down meals (although I would be totally fine eating all QS meals). There seemed to be availability for everything (minus BOG), so I'm hoping that means that crowds will be light.

Now, it's on to waiting for our next big date, July 24th....ready to get those FP+s booked!

Our trip is getting so close! We leave two weeks from tomorrow. There have definitely been some adjustments to our plans, so here's an update:

We are now leaving Early, Early, Early on the 20th to drive down. My brother wants to check out Universal Studios, so that's our plan for Sunday. We are staying at an Embassy Suites on I-Drive on Saturday and Sunday. Below is the plan for the rest of our trip:

Monday, September 22nd:
-Check in at Beach Club and immediately head to MK
-Lunch at Be Our Guest (finally got the FP+ invite)
-Fast Passes for Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion and Splash
-Dinner @ Chef Mickey's
-We will probably head to EPCOT after dinner for a while.

Tuesday, September 23rd
-Another MK Day
-Lunch-quick service (probably Cosmic Rays or Columbia Harbor House
-Fast Passes for Buzz Lightyear, Jungle Cruise and 7DMT
-Dinner @ Crystal Palace
-Mini-golf and possibly a grocery store run after dinner

Wednesday, September 24th
-Back to EPCOT. We will walk from BCV
-Lunch @LeCellier
-Fast Passes for Spaceship Earth, Test Track and Maelstrom.
-Dinner will probably be at the Food and Wine Festival.

Thursday, September 25th
-MGM Day (I just can't bring myself to call it Disney Studios)
-Fast Passes for Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Toy Story Midway Mania and Lights, Motor, Action
-Lunch somewhere in the park
-Fantasmic Package Dinner at Mama Melrose's

Friday, September 26th
-Animal Kingdom (finally!)
-Fast Passes for Festival of the Lion King, Kilimanjaro Safaris and Everest
-Lunch at either Pizzafari or Rainforest Cafe
-Back to MGM for dinner at the Brown Derby

So, we have a pretty full schedule but will probably bounce around. A lot of our Fast Passes were made with my parents, who aren't big thrill ride people, in mind. My brother and I will probably end up spending a lot of time in the parks while they are back at the hotel anyway. My brother flys in (from Paris now) on the 18th. I have to work until 7 on the 19th and will drive to my parents in the rental car ( I get a pretty sweet deal through work) and we will leave exceptionally early on the 20th.
To say I've been looking forward to this trip is an understatement. Work has been hectic all summer and I possibly chose the worst week to go on vacation, but nothing stands between me and Mickey. I plan on getting a lot of packing done this weekend. I know it's early, but this Sunday, the 7th, is my last day off before we leave! I'll throw in some essentials last minute, but I plan on being mostly packed this weekend.
