September crowds with Free Dining

What I have heard form many people is the lines for rides may not be so bad, but the lines for food maybe a little heavy. Anyone wanna shine some light on this prediction?

I was there Sept 16th - 26th last year and I prepared for the worst... but it wasn't bad at all. I never waited that long at all for my ADRs! In fact, most places I would just sit down with my pager... and my pager was already going off! I don't know if we were lucky but we were there for 10 days and never had an issue the whole time. And trust me, I have kids so I would tell you if I had to wait long... b/c waiting with children seems like an eternity sometimes!:animwink:

I've been the last few years in Sept. and haven't had too much trouble with free dining and crowds at eating establishments. (Although, typically, I don't eat lunch at peak times...and rarely eat dinner at peak times either.)

Wait times, for me, for lunches have been no larger than they have ever been when I go at other times.

For dinners, I also haven't noticed too much of a wait. The longest I remember was LeCellier...but it wasn't too bad either. (Although it's size would generate this more than anything. That and there was a line of people trying to get in for food who didn't have dining ressies and they were being turned away.)

We went last September, second week or there abouts. Ride times were minimal almost the whole week, with only the big ones (Soarin, Midway Mania, etc.) with longer wait times. And FASTPASS takes care of those :)

Restaurants in the park were busy... but they seem busy anytime of the year that we've went, so I don't know how much difference there would be versus non dining plan. Of course, you'll want to make your ADRs as far out as you can so you can get your first choice of sit down places.

The standard response most people will give is this: Resorts and dining/restaurants will be crowded. Ride times and overall park crowds will be a lot lighter than peak holiday and summer seasons.

Enjoy your trip!

I want to back up what the others have said. I am a September free dining veteran for the past 4 years. What the others are saying is what I have noticed also. As the economy took a down turn last year the crowd level was the slowest I had ever seen in the previous 3 Septembers.

Yes, you need to have ADRs. I know some say they walked up and got seated without a long wait and no ADR's. But IMHO why risk it and spend your day going from resturant to resturant trying to find a place to eat.

Getting reservations at the more popular restaurants are much harder. I don't know about the QS lines but I have seen an increase of people in the parks in September over the years.
