Sept. 13-16

I just booked for Sept. 13-16th at Port Orleans - Riverside. I've never been in September before. How are the crowds? I know it's going to be crowded just about any time of the year, but I'm hoping September might be a slower period. I've seen a couple of specials (Fall Fantansy, etc.) for August 25th - October 2nd. I'm hoping that's because it's the "slow" time. Thanks!!

I was down there last year from October 5th until October 9th. It was pretty packed. We had hour waits and wouldn't go near the big rides without a fastpass. Although it was busy, it was nothing like Thanksgiving. We arrived on Thanksgiving day last year and finally ended up coming home a day early because of the crowds. In answer to your question, it's packed in October but not unbearable.

cool! I will be there from Sept 17 to 22nd at Port Orleans Riverside. I picked this time of year because the guides all said it was a lower attendance time of year. Im glad to hear it from people who have been there! Hopefully the weather will be ok though. :)

We're going down Sept 10-16th on our honeymoon. Its good to hear that September is a slow time of the year!

Though I am a little concerned that we'll be down there for the 1 year anniversary of Sept 11th ... I'm sure rumors will fly. What is everyone else's opinion on this?

I was there last sept. and it was grate the crowds were low and we walked on everything, with little or no wait even on test track, I was used to summer there and having to wait forever to get on attritions, I’ll never go in summer again. The only thing is we got a lot of rain but they said that it was unusually rainy, but don’t let that stop you, just put on your rain poncho, and have fun.

As far as Sept 11 rumors go, take them with a grain of salt, if there is something going to happen Disney will be on top of it, I was there for Sept. 11 and they took care of everything, shutting down the parks, and adding security, just go and have fun and don’t worry, just worry about what to do next wile your there.:)

We went in September, during the 18-28th & I thought it was quite packed. Not TOO packed, but there were some good crowds. I THOUGHT it wouldnt be like that, but we were wrong.

It was quite humid too....& the place was infested with those "lovebugs" EWWW!

I am not sure about the September 11th thing...good point though. I am sure WDW will be super-duper careful as always!

September is an IDEAL time to go...if mother nature cooperates. Realize that that is hurricane season. We had to postpone a few years ago because the airport closed there. Ride waits are really low.

I have gone down there the last 4 Septembers. And I must say the crowds are non existant. I went 1 week after 911 and I waited at most 15 mins and that was Space Mountain. Everything else was 5 mins or less.

I hate the heat but it sure beats waiting on line and wasting your day. This way you can see more of Disney.

See you Sept 12-17.

I always go in September too. Crowds are VERY minimal during the weekdays but the locals come out on the weekends. I have been there the past 4 years during September, usualy the week or two after Labor Day.

Some of the draw backs are that the parks close ealier (MK usualy at 7pm, AK at 5pm, MGM at 8:30pm and Epcot at 9pm) but you can see everything you want to because there are virtualy no lines. The nightime parades usualy stop after Labor Day and since MK closes before sundown, you won't be able to see Spectro Magic.

This year I am going down from September 1 - 8. I wanted to go during Labor Day weekend because it's been so long since I was at the MK to see the fireworks and nightime parade. I know that holiday weekend will be crowded but the rest of the week should be fine.

Like you said...the locals come out on the weekends, so they usually extend park hours, and run fireworks, and spectromagic.

At least they did last sept.

Maybe so but I have only seen that happen once in the past 4 years I was there during September. Maybe last year was an exception because of the events of Sept. 11th, but I have the park maps and called ahead of time and they still were not scheduled.

Maybe they bring them back toward the end of September. I don't know. I go durring the first 2 weeks usualy.

Family is Important!

I agree with Fievel. September is a wonderful time to go because the children are back in school and the weather is better (not as hot). Also, our family just discovered that the room rates are lower during that time as well. We had reservations for June and at the last minute cancelled because we learned that rates for the same accommodations in September were 30% less. And I also think that family is important. When I go to WDW I am going to have my picture taken with my Mother just like Fievel. It will be a great memory for our entire family. I just wish my Dad was still here.
