I know that you can't do it the day before you leave, but I had no idea it was taking 3 days now!

How it works: Any shopping around (except food) can be deliver to either Package Pick Up or Resort (only Disney Resorts). Ask for it is free of charge. it will be deliver the next day. Please don't ask for deliver to resort a day before you leave, or you wont get it. Or after 6 or 7 (depending on closing and park) because it will be delivered a second day. If you like you can also use package Pick Up it takes 3 hours to reach PP.

BUT. if you dont want to have nothing to take with you, it can be send via mail to your final destination (there is a shipping cost) and international fare does apply sending outside USA. (don't do it is very very expesive for international shipping.

NOW if you shop from any other park or Resort and want to use the delivery system HAS to be done in the location, you can take it to a second location (EPCOT to Magic Kingdom) it won't be accepted.

Unless you are staying in a Conceirge room, the packages will be NOT be delivered to your resort room. They can be picked up at either a shop in your resort. (for example, in The Contemporary resort it's Bay View Gifts) or at the check in area of your resort.

Ask when you check in.

The last time I was there, this was a really helpful feature - our items were always at our hotel the same night that we got them, if I remember correctly. It was very, very convienient, and I figure we'll take advantage of it again.

A few years ago they did deliver your shopping to your room, but not any more. The queues at the All Star Movie to pick up (it was from the reception desk, but again a few years ago) put us off shipping usless we had made a large purchase.

FYI... there was no package delivery during the MNSSHP. Heard it from someone that had already purchased something and had to carry it the rest of the night...

She might have told you three days to be on the safe side if it was very busy.

When I stayed at the Contemporary for the first time, things were sent directly to our room. I was very excited to see my Sgt. Pepper shirt waiting for me on my bed.

That must be a change. In the past the they would deliver at anytime day night of special hard card events. I have made purchases 1:00 AM at MK and had them sent, but it was not the delivered that day. It was the following day before we got the package.

I did not take advantage of the service this year. Mostly because we purchased items right before we were heading back to our room.

I love package delivery. We were a little disappointed this summer that they dont deliver it to your room anymore. We were at POFQ and it frequently took us a really long time to pick up our stuff from the giftshop. There were never more than 2 CMs working in the store and frequently only 1. If that CM was spending all her time running around getting packages it made the line go verrrrrrry slowly.

Oh well. Still better than dragging a ton of packages around the parks with us.

On my last trip, I stayed at Port Orleans riverside and I had no problem picking up my gifts at the Package pickup. I usually had 2 or 3 things per day too so when I went to go pick up my package, they would even let me pick up my parents gifts so some days I would have 5 or 6 bags to carry back to my room, which was located in Alligator bayou which was kind of a good distance away!

Is this true of all WDW resorts? Most of the resorts discussed here are moderate and value. Do the delux resorts (we are staying at AKL) handle packages differently? I plan to use this often while at the parks and don't want to spend a lot of time finding or waiting for my packages. I will have to rethink my purchasing strategies if this is the case.

And don't forget, it's not just food they won't send back to the hotel for you. Its anything perishable: food, drinks, plants, etc. Not knowing that, I wound up carrying two baby bonsai plants and a bottle of Canadian Maple syrup with me all day at World Showcase once.

I cant speak for the deluxe resorts because the last time I stayed in one they were still delivering to rooms.

I wouldnt let the new procedure deter you from shopping. They will hold ur packages at the giftshop for a few days so you could probably get away with only picking up once or twice in the span of your trip. One CM even told us (not on the record of course) that if the stuff sits around too long they will just deliver it to your room. Who knows what constitutes "too long" though. *shrug*

When I just stayed at AKL they did not deliver our packages to our room. We had to go pick them up. So as far as Deluxe resorts delivering that would probably be a no. For conciere level they are probably delivered right to your room.

They do however call your room and leave a message when your packages arrive. Just make sure you bring your receipt and the package delivery slip (I beleive it is yellow) to the pick-up location in your resort and they will retreive your package. Most locations are in the resorts store.

It's the exact same way at WL. They'll leave a message on your phone and you have to take your receipt down with you to the gift shop to pick it up.
