I have a trip booked to the Poly 6/5 -6/13 but my husband is badgering me to switch it to CBR because he thinks it looks so awesome.

I am nervous after reading the reviews about the bus situation at CBR. Is it really that bad there? I told him if he is keen on being tortured by multiple bus rides for a week with no monorail or boat rides why don't we stay at AKL, but he said he does not like that theme! I don't want to drag him to the Poly because I picked the GF last year so I feel like I should compromise and book the CBR for him.

Please someone tell me how awesome CBR is so I don't lament about not going to Poly like a big cry baby.

Also, Palisades makes a good point about the quiet pools at CBR... forgot about that, but it's a nice touch that I don't think exists at Poly... every island has it's own pool, which si plenty large and colorful if not lavishly themed. They're never as crowded as the main pirate castle pool, and can be a nice little spot.

FYI--There is a quiet pool at the Poly as well as the volcano pool.

I have stayed at the CBR once and the Poly twice (3rd time coming in August!). I would prefer to stay at any Disney hotel over a non-disney, but given the choice between these two, Poly wins hands down. The Poly has the beautiful grounds, the fun Volcano Pool, views of the Magic Kingdom, the Seven Seas Lagoon Water Pagent, huge rooms/bathrooms, and fantastic restaurants and bars. At CBR I had a room on the far side of Trinidad South and the distance to Old Port Royale Centertown was just too far. Also, due to the fact that the buses have to make so many stops around the resort, I experienced the longest wait times of any Disney property I've stayed at except maybe Animal Kingdom Lodge. CBR has nice grounds and rooms. I would stay there if it was my only choice, but given options I would choose the Polynesian every time.

We love CBR. we will be staying there next trip. The food court is great. the buildings are pretty. There are several bus stops so dont worry about busses. All resorts can have bus problems. Its a beautiful resort....you cant lose....

Its a vacation, so if your going to disney to rush around, then stay offsite and save the bucks, but if your going to relax, then bus service should not matter, it just gives you more time to enjoy yhte surroundings, or if your lucky, get right on the bus and get to your destination quicker and again, enjoy the surroundings. Both resorts have the tropical feeling that you obviously want, same here, but is one themed better than the other, yes, poly has a great lobby. Restaurants, poly again. MK view, poly. Pools, equal, if not better at cbr for two reasons, privates pools, hot tubs. Room size, poly. Service, equal. Both have great outdoor bars, but CBR better, open later. Mousekeeping, depends on who it is. Its all a matter of opinion and money, both are great, its a feeling that people go on. If money is the issue, CBR, if not, toss up.

We have stayed at CBR many times.... it is our second favorite resort behind the Wilderness Lodge and we have never had an issue with bus service. I agree that you should never take someone elses word for it that any one resort has horrible bus service. While it is true that sometimes you might see 2 MK buses go by before you see your first AK bus, you still will never wait more than 15 minutes for a bus to wherever you're trying to get! I say go with saving $150 a night and stay at CBR!

Our most favorite things about this resort are that each villiage has its own beach and quiet pool (which is great for those without kids). And we have always requested to stay in Martinique (which is directly across from Port Royale) and it has always been honored. So we're always a 5 minute walk away from all the activity at CBR!

We stayed at CBR last December and really did enjoy it. I agree with others that you should not worry about the bus situation. The resort is a very large resort, and depending on which building you are in, you may be a long way from Old Port Royale. That was really our only beef with the resort - we stayed in Trinidad South and it was a good 15 minute walk to the central area. There is an internal bus, but not knowing how long the wait would be, it seemed generally quicker to walk. If you have your own vehicle, this is not an issue.

We stayed in one of the newer pirate rooms, which we really enjoyed. If you are into the theming, I'd recommend it. We had travelling partners that were in Aruba, and their room was an older one, that was honestly not as nice as the more recently remodeled ones.

In the end, CBR's defining feature though is it's size. Because it is so large, it offers a much more relaxed and secluded feel than many other resorts, but that size can make getting around within the resort slightly more difficult.

I have to agree with most of the other comments and CleveRocks comments couldn't had said it any better in my opinion. Carribean Beach has been a family favorite now for several years. We mostly like the laid back atmosphere. As much as I love going to the parks I really have no rush to leave the resort, unfortunately this has resulted in late park arrivals. Not having stayed at the Poly I cannot honestly compare but I really cannot say anything negative about CBR. Most recently we stayed 4 nights during spring break and it was decided upon checking out that we really need to stay a week next time.
