Security Policy and Picture Request

There was a somewhat recent thread in which WDW's supposed "top-notch" security team was discussed. I'm guessing that the "security guy manual," policies, etc. are posted somewhere online. I'm curious as to what they're told to do (and given permission to do), versus what they actually do. My guess is that there are plenty of deviations from those policies.

On another note,

What's currently inside the old 20,000 Leagues ride building? As I'm sure most of you do, I'd love to see some (above water) pictures of the interior now, as well as during ride operation. Can someone link me in the right direction?

If no one knows of existing material, I may just have to check it out on my own.

Aaaoooga!

20,000 leagus wasnt in a building it was in a lagoon. Theres nothing there now.....they may incorporate the lagoon into a new ride i.e. bald mountain or fire mountain.

20,000 WAS indoors. In fact, the majority of the ride took place indoors. If you check out some of the links provided at this website, you'll come across a number of ariel photographs of the Disney theme parks. The 20,000 building is quite large. Those Disney guys really know how to hide their buildings. The Haunted Mansion is a perfect example of this art.

The 20,000 building was visible to those riding the SkyWay.

If you think about it, daylight (in the lagoon) would spoil many of the special effects that took place during the submarine ride. Thus, 2/3 of the ride existed "after the waterfall."

But back to my primary question - if 20,000 is definitely not coming back in any form, why in the world is the show stage (building) still standing? That just seems to me like a heck of a lot of water to keep chlorinated.

They don't neccessarily have to keep it chlorinated...at least not heavily. If the water is filtered and chlorinated just a bit, it wouldn't cost that much...the lagoon isn't really that deep. But true...it does have to add up.

Is it the building in the top right? If so, its huge isn't it? I only rode it once or twice, how long did the ride last?

Well, it wasn't that long of a ride (The audio recording I have of it is 8:23), but think of the scale of things. You have a subs which are what, probaly about 30 to 40 feet long with people able to look out on both sides. You have to make sure that throughout the ride you don't see another sub. The things wouldn;t turn on a dime, so you just need a lot of space to do the ride correctly...

I like the fact that they left the lagoon there, it looks nice, but, they need to come up with something to put there. I can understand the delay slightly cause of the fact that is a very prime location in the park.

Thanks!

I agree, it is a great location which deserves the best possible attraction there, and if we have to wait, then I guess thats ok, just as long as they put something good there.

Please?

Hiya, can someone please get some shots from inside the lagoon building???? Past or present?????????????

Maybe they are building something inside, like using the warehouse for a totally different attraction, and they will close of the bit where the subs went in. And then the only part of 20,000 l's will just be the lagoon.

That must be the biigest building in the park and it is just sitting there with no real purpose.

Least there is plenty of land there fr another ride at some point before the earth burns up and we all die leaving the planet to be inhabted by apes which will replace mickeys house with an ape meat and greet and turn the statue of mickey and walt into a statue of Thade and mickey.

Oops sorry if u havent seen the film yet its your own fault for not seeing it its a classic.

Disney do hide there buildings well but htey must have plans or they would drain the lagoon and demolish the buildin as it will be expensive to maintain.

I never new u went inside thought all the subs did was go round the lagoon. last time i was there and 20k league was i was 8 and it was 1992.

And dont foreget

The only good human is a dead human

oh and

laughter

damn them damn them all to hell

sorry i had to do that its a special time of year
