Secret Pathway in the Animal Kingdom

There's a great hidden "secret pathway" most folks miss in DAK.

If you walk into the EXIT path of "It's Tough to Be a Bug" (wait until there is NOT a group just exiting following the show) and keep on going straight... past the theater exit doors... there is a very quiet path that takes you all the way to the "Africa" entrance.
There are birds and other animals on display, and a very nice waterfall as well.

Kind of romantic to be virtually "alone" right in the middle of a busy park.

This path can be accessed on either end, but its easier to find the first time if you just walk INTO the path marked "Exit" for ITTBAB.

(Good way to get across the park during the Jammin' Jungle Parade when the Asia-to-Africa main roadway is closed for the floats.)

There's also a 'secret path' infront of the Tree of Life, as well as 2 on the walkway between Africa and Asia. They're popular thread topics, probably come up once every few months.

I love both of these paths, especially the one that goes from the TTBAB entrance over to Pizzafari. There is also at least one hidden Mickey on this path as well.

It's a shame the secret path that was between Harambe and Asia is gone... :(

yes, and it is interesting that they don't "encourage" you to go from asia to africa as it is an exit for Bug, but it is an open entrance from africa. And it should be noted that a HUGE catfish resides in the initial bridge you go over from Africa. Kinda like going over a brook.. the fish must be 5-6 feet long... and he has a name which escapes me.

The smoking area path off from the main route from Asia to Africa should also be noted as one of the most beautiful quiet places in AK... two brooks with small waterfalls and two small bridges.

One of the other paths in AK that people often overlook is the short one in the middle of the Oasis that has the suspension bridge over the pond/stream.

One end is easily found if you take the path that cuts side-to-side across the Oasis, but the cooler "hidden" entrance faces the Tree of Life. As you are crossing the bridge heading away from the ToL, keep walking straight ahead into the rock formation rather than going left or right. The path is in and to your right, around an outcropping.

You can see the suspension bridge from the "main" paths, but unless you see someone standing on it, it's not obvious that it's publicly accessible.

This is one of the things I love about Animal Kingdom, but which gets overlooked. This type of exploring makes AK different. Just like Dora the Explorer and Hidden Mickeys, etc. it can really get guests into the park.

I wish that they would do more with this, though. More than just a path, there should be some kind of draw there. The Animal Kingdom really is about exploring, and the park would be even more interesting if you explore and find neat things throughout the park.

I'd be eternally greatful if you would reveal the location of that!

Me too... I have seen pics from 1999 that showed a secret path that had stepping stones that water flowed between in one spot... it appeared a very very narrow path. Is this the secret path between harambe and asia that you speak of? I have scoured every nook and cranny of AK on literally hundreds of visits and cannot believe I haven't found this.

Perhaps a machete is in order... :lookaroun

Sometimes the path that you're speaking of is closed of to guest traffic. But I can tell you one thing... If you have a sensitive nose, you'll find it. The path absolutely STINKS of cigarrette smoke. I think that particular path is a smoker's paradise.

yeah, I know the smoking path and that is not what I am looking for. I am referring to a path that is supposedly overgrown and much more narrow. It is discussed earlier in this thread.

It actually exits into a smoking area on the asia side, so smoker's tend to wander onto the path....that's probably why.
