SeaWorld raises prices in step with other parks

SeaWorld Orlando will follow Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando by raising its ticket prices Monday.

Before tax, a single-day adult admission will be $59.75 -- a nearly 11 percent increase over the current price of $53.95. The park will offer a $6 discount to people who purchase tickets online at seaworld.com.

SeaWorld will continue to offer its Florida-resident Fun Card annual pass, though the price will rise to $64.95 for adults from $61.95.

Orlando's big parks usually raise their prices at about the same time. Disney and Universal announced price increases last month.

Spokesman Nick Gollattscheck said SeaWorld is raising prices because of higher operating costs and strong consumer demand -- and to bring its prices in line with the competition's.

"We run our own business plan, but part of that plan is to monitor what the pricing standards are for theme parks in Orlando," Gollattscheck said. Holding prices down would not attract significantly more visitors, he said.

It makes sense that all of the parks in Orlando are the same price......visitors here do not make their decisions on where to go based on price, but do so more on tastes, time limits, and what they want to experience.

Hopefully they will spend even more money at SeaWorld, I can't wait to see the new waterfront, and so on. A new ride would be nice though, a replacement of that simulator maybe!

They are replacing the Dolphin Show this year, but that is all that is being done. Phase 2 of the waterfront just opened this fall, and the Waterfront was the largest financial investment ever made in the park.

I take it they are keeping both, just changing them around. I couldn't see Seaworld without a dolphin show!

Great, I always love new shows! (Providing they are improvements ofcourse!)

At this point, anything is an improvement over the Shamu Adventure! It's getting a bit old. At a meeting last month, though, I saw the concept art for the new show we're getting here in San Diego (and I'm fairly sure they said Orlando is getting the same show) and it looks really neat!

The fun card is such a saver. I got one when I was there from March-August. We went like 4 times. Mostly just to ride the Kraken (awesome!) and to watch the shows. I can't wait to go back! Kraken here I come! :sohappy:
