SeaWorld submits plans in Orange County for 2nd hotel.
Plans for 250-room hotel near Discovery Cove
SeaWorld Orlando submitted plans this week to Orange County to build its second hotel on property, a month after applying for its first one.
According to the plan dubbed “Project Canopy,” this 250-room hotel would be built off Central Florida Parkway and connected to Discovery Cove’s entrance. The plans appeared in Orange County’s system Friday.
The six-story hotel would have a restaurant, bar, spa, gift shop and roughly 7,000 square feet of meeting space.
Recently, SeaWorld submitted plans to build a 500-room hotel nearby, off Central Florida Parkway and International Drive. That hotel would be 16 stories tall. This project shows it would one day connect to SeaWorld by an entrance near the Nautilus Theater.
The area is currently being used for storage and employee parking.
SeaWorld Entertainment CEO Marc Swanson said in a recent earnings call that the company planned to move into hotels as part of strategic growth initiatives.

Looks like highlights include bungalows and a "tree top" restaurant.
