Seating for 12 - best way?

So we now have 12 folks planned for our trip later this year - my sister and her fam of 5, a family friend, my parents, my wife and I and my in-laws. Whew!

I know you can't book for 12 on the Disney site (10 is max IIRC). Trying to figure out the best way to do this. Is doing seating for 5 (my sister and her family) and 7 (the rest) harder to book than doing 6/6 or 8/4? It's okay if we have to seat away from each other, but ideally we could be relatively close if not right next to each other. I figure I would go to each restaurant when they open and explain our group and see if they can accommodate keeping us close?

Imho try 6 and 6 and if that doesn't work then try 8 and 4 then 3 x4. Be ready as soon as reservations open. More popular restaurants or most important places first
Yup I know the drill - but usually just having to book for 2 xD.

I will try 8/4 (works better for us) and if that fails 6/6!

Dis does try to accommodate group needs and by approaching the host/ hostess early on they can try to have tables next to each other. It depends on the time you have reservations and how the dining area fills and empties.
