Sea World Ticket Increase

Well that's stupid. You already pay high prices for what, three rides and a few shows and animal exhibits? I guess it's because of the new/improved waterfront area... or they're getting ready to build an attraction and need more money? Oh well.

I agree that it's crazy, the parks need to chill on price increases for a bit and find other means of revenue. Of course, they will propably get the dough anyway, but I wish they would find alternatives. That makes it about $55 after tax, right?

Wow, a family of four is broke before they even enter the park. :brick:

I think this is dumb on their part, they're charging more than WDW does, and all they have is Kraken and Journey to Atlantis as some real rides, Wild Arctic is boring, and then all you have left to do is shows. That's why i'm not an annual passholder anymore. I was for one year, went only 5-7 times, and then said forget it. Screamscape says Sea World will give some info on their future in the coming weeks, hopefully it involves some new rides. I heard somewhere they wanted to get a new coaster in by 2007. They could use a Wild Arctic replacement (ride part), a new coaster or two, maybe a rapids ride, a 3D show, a few other attractions, and then maybe it'll be a good park to visit. The new Waterfront just doesn't do it.

But what you guys are overlooking is that Seaworld is not presented as a park full of thrills and rides. Sure Kraken and Journey To Atlantis are fun but that's not the premise behind the park. It is a park based on shows and exhibits so they don't see it as paying $55 and only getting a few rides. Some people may see Kraken and then think they are going to a thrill park and yes they will be disappointed but they were wrongly assuming to begin with.

By you guys I assume you were not including me. I love SeaWorld, but I still think the price increase is crazy.. it's too high. They need to find other sources of income right now and give more people the opportunity to get into the park first. Honestly, I think the Universal and Disney prices had better calm down on increases for a while also (multidays and packages excluded). But as I said, they won't and enough people will keep going that it won't matter. But it's getting steep. Sure, there are cost of living (running increases) but it would seem the more friendly you make the entrance price, the more likely people will spend money once they get inside.

No I wasn't including you :D I was talking about the people in general who say they can't charge that much because there aren't enough rides.

For those that can visit before March 31, you can purchase the SeaWorld Fun Card for $59.95.

The Fun Card is an unlimited admission ticket so it's basically an Annual Pass for $10-15 more than a one day admission.

I love the Fun Card, we'll be getting it this year for the 3rd year in a row. The last 2 years, though, it's been the same price as a one-day admission, that was the whole concept behind it "Pay for one day, come back all year!" Are you sure it's $59 this year? I'm not saying you're lieing, I was just curious whether or not they changed the concept.

The last time we went to Sea World was in 1997. We keep saying we are going to take a day and go back there now that we have kids, but we never do. I have to say though, that I enjoy all the shows there. I don't expect to be thrilled, just entertained at that park. However, $55 per adult is a lot of money. And as expensive as everyone thinks the restaurants are in WDW, as best I remember, Sea World and Universal were even higher. My hubby and I were talking about that when we drove by the Sea World entrance as we were headed home from WDW last month.

Yes.

The Orlando Sentinel article about raising the ticket prices also mentions the Fun Card. On 1-2-04's, back page of the Sentinel's Calender section, there is an ad about the Fun Card as well.

It's 59.95 for adults and 49.95 for kids. One new thing about it is that you can pay $5.99 a month for 10 months to pay for it so it's not in one big lump.

I got one during my CP in 2001 as well as one for Busch Gardens. Any idea if BG has one for this year as well?

I would pay more! I think Sea World is an awesome park, there is so much to see and do it takes at least an entire day if not two. and btw Nemorocks78 This is atleast the second time Sea World has charged more than Disney, Sea World raised their prices last January, Disney raised theirs last June to the level of Sea Worlds

As much as i like Sea World- i do think the increase is a little much- ticket prices are going way, way, way too high. In the 1980's, ticket prices were in the $20- low $30 range. Now they're in the mid $50 range and going higher. By 2015 we'll be paying close to $70 per day at this rate...

Now some people understand why i purchase on EZpay my florida AP, which includes BGT, SWO, and Adventure island water park.

I payed it off long time ago after my 10th visit to BGT, and one to SWO.

SeaWorld has increased its pricesfor 2004 - It won't be long until WDW and US do exactly the same thing.
"Cost of living rises" occur annually - its a fact of life.
Finally, SW isn't a park for "2 or 3" rides - SW is primarily a frontage for marine animal preservation / conservation. The rides have been added to attract more visitors to the park to fund the welfare issues (as well as other overheads), not to compete with WDW or IOA.
Personally I love SW and will continue to visit the park during my holidays in the USA

Universal has already raised their prices.

I love Red Lobster, but I don't go there all the time cause it costs a lot. I also love Olive Garden and go there much more often because it is much more affordable. If the parks would keep entrance fees down they would get more frequent visitors and more income from internal sales overall.

For every one visit to Red Lobster at say $60. I propably go to Olive Garden three times at $35. Olive Garden is getting $105 of my money just cause I can afford to go more often and still get quality. In the market that SeaWorld is competing with they are living dangerously, especially by being the price setters instead of followers.

I'm not knocking SeaWorld at all, I love the place, they just need to find other alternatives to making the money they need for increases and additions. You can argue that many Orlando visitors are once a year or less visitors and you need to get all you can from that one visit, but on the other hand you must look as attractive as possible to those less frequent visitors to get them to go in the first place.
