In the last DVC newsletter they announced a "Scuba assisted" snorkelling program at Living Seas. It was supposed to begin at the end of October and be open to ages 8 and above -- with 30 minutes spent in the aquarium.

Has anyone else heard of this? Is it available yet?

Have not heard of that, but that would be great way for kids to discover the wonders of Scuba Diving. My wife and I will be doing Dive Quest on Jan 3, 2003. I will ask about it while we are there and let you know.

I actually did hear about it. Don't remember much information about it though.

Call 407-WDW-TOUR and they will give you all the information you will need. I think it was something around 100 dollars per person.

They were advertising a 15% discount for DVC members. I'm gonna call after the holidays to see about reservations for June.

I would call now to tell you the truth. I already made my reservations for the keys to the kingdom tour for august. These tours fill up really quick.

The Living Seas is a PADI SCUBA certified dive center. My SCUBA instructor knows one of the head guys there, was actually a student of his. If you look in Birnbaun's Guide it used to give a small bit of info on it, but I think you need to be open water dive certified before you can sign up for that tour because I think it's straight SCUBA, and I think it's either before or after hours, and the price is about $200 not including park entrance fee from what I understand.

They do have the Supplied Air Snorkeling (SAS) tour at the Living Seas now. From what I understand it is Monday - Friday at 12:30pm. They supply everything, all you need to do is bring a swimsuit. They even provide a locker room with private showers for after the tour (mickey shampoo included). The cost is around $100.00. I did Dive Quest recently which is the tour requireing full SCUBA certification and it was awsome. While we were suiting up rays and smaller fish were swiming around our feet. This would be a good way to discover what SCUBA diving is like. Call 1-407-wdw-tour to set this up if interested.
