DisneySeas is not like a sea world/living seas park...It is FAR from it.

think of it like a Epcot mixed with IOA mixed with some breathtaking themeing.... Try and find some pics of it on the net, I think you will be pleasantly suprised....

oh...no doubt that it's a beautiful park...I would love to see it built here, but that would involve someone puting up the money to, b/c disney wouldn't...

I know they could re-make The Living Seas to convert it into a more attractive pavilion. They are DISNEY, they have thousands of ideas, so maybe it's time they use them to benefit themselves and their guests.

Ehhhhhh...

Disney is currently building new parks in Hong kong, and paris...and are currently in design stages for a third in Cali...all out of their own pocket. The only place they get financial help is in Japan...

Once FL is ready for a 5th park..It will most likley be a Disney Seas because of its AMAZING popularity in Japan. They can afford it, but they need to finish AK first (Beastly kingdom).

Back to the main topic::

Living seas...The seacabs removal is most likey just going to turn into the typcial seaquarium type of walkthru...its cheap to maintain, and would turn the pavillion into a nice place to "lounge"...Yes...I am being optimistic for a change...

Now I agree that it will become a general walk through cool off point for families etc. I did enjoy the seacabs though :) The seas do need an update as does allot of things at Disney but the problem is Disney is like the IT industry you cant keep up with the Jone's everytime a new chip or better way comes out. They money/downtime/reassigning CM's would be mind blowing plus $$$$$

Next weekend I am going to try and get some shots of the current rehabs for everyone, and get them uploaded to the site.

I need to look into this DisneySeas somewhere along the way I missed that news. :)

I know disney is building new parks, but Disney Studios Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland seem to have very few attractions. I think DisneySeas was MUCH more expensive than these parks and I don't think disney would have ever paid for all of it.

*ugh*! I am so bummed! We didn't make it to the Living Seas last May and I have been waiting to go back to Epcot because I really wanted to see this exhibit! And now it's not even a real exhibit anymore?

Oh well

Can anyone tell me if it's even worth the time to go into the pavilliion? From some of the posts here, it almost sounds as if its a work zone of sorts, with scaffolding blocking a large part of the attraction.

I'm going in 3 weeks... Should I bother? How is The Land? I didn't get to see that last year either.

Thanks in advance for comments and opinions!

Well,

A couple of thoughts, first to Kyle:

The reason DSP doesn't seem to have many "attractions" is that the general culture is slightly different over in Europe and so they are putting more "shows" and theatre-like experiences in the park as opposed to building a bunch of rides. The true cost in this park will come from paying all the CMs that will perform in the shows. However, I don't know much about the specs for HKDL other than the shareholder report has a picture of the site which, while being very beautiful, didn't seem all that big. I suppose it is possible that they had only cleared ground for a single section of the park.

SeaSpray:

When I went in Dec. the Land was good as always, with the two movies and the boat ride. Now that fastpass is here, however, I never stand in line for the boat unless the wait is <10 min. because that queue is dead boring.

As for the REAL issue at hand, I think the walk-through thing would work well for this particular pavillion, but Now and Luau have a point that without a ride it will be hard to get people into the pavillion, especially when EPCOT has so few "rides" to begin with. I think it boils down to the fact that rides aren't really what EPCOT is all about, but if they were going to remove something, why didn't they take Body Wars!!!??? I have never gotten sick on a roller coaster or any other ride for that matter, but that ride makes me queasy every time I get on it...

The one thing that always bugs me....is when people complain that a NEW theme park doesnt have a LOT of rides....look at Disneys history..every park is kinda "empty" when it opens..given a few years...it thrives (MGM studios is the best example)

And living seas...ehhh..as of right now..you could skip it and really not feel bad about it...seeing how right now its..uh...under construction.

I was at WDW in January for my first trip to WDW since 1983. The first time I went to Epcot, we spent the whole day in Future World and never got to World Showcase at all, so our plan was to spend a minimal amount of time in FW, and then hit WS when it opened.

The only pavillions/attractions we considered as priorities were Test Track and the Living Seas. We ended up seeing Body wars while waiting for our Fastpass time at Test Track. Once we were in the Living Seas pavillion, we were given a choice to watch a film or go straight to the "hydrolators." Because we were short on time, we went straight to the Hydrolators and headed for the tanks.

The aquarium was one of the most magical moments of the trip for me. At one point while I was sitting in front of the glass, a sting ray swam bellyup to the glass from below right in front of me. It took me breath away and I was so happy my husband caught it on video. It's one of the attractions that I specfically want to share with family members when we go back next January.

Because I had never been there, I didn't notice the loss of a "ride." I probably would have been frustrated with the time that a ride would have taken, when I just wanted to see the tanks. The lack of a ride didn't seem to bother anyone else either, as the viewing area seemed to be filled with one of the densest crowds we experienced in all of WDW.

I think replacing the ride with a walkthrough is a particularly lame idea. Its true that the ride wasn't much, but it was something in between the movie and the WALKTHROUGH that already exists! No more walking! The whole freakin' ride is walking around and standing up as it is. The short ride portion which was there was the biggest treat. I enjoyed it and I wish it would come back. As for the overall popularity of the ride, I haven't seen it crowded in years. Maybe I've simply been lucky time after time to find it empty.:D
