Several of you were able to write in and confirm that the Sea Cabs at the Living Seas are now not only closed, but the loading and unload stations have been walled off as well. One reader claimed that it had been done to the extent that if you had never been in the Living Seas before, you would proably never know that the Sea Cabs were even there. Unfortunatly no one can tell us if they are gone for good or if this is just a rehab. Problem is, without a sponsor (they are dropping like flies at Epcot) rehab money is going to be hard to come by. Given that the Sea Cabs were never that spectacular in the first place, they might be better off removing the ride system and turning it into a walk-through pathway

thats most likley whats gong to happen. A Walkthru is much cheaper to keep open than a ride..especially when the "ride" is pretty much pointless...

I liked the ride! Poor Living Seas...they really need a sponsor...

If the sea caps are gone are gone for good I only pray they redo SeaBase Alpha, so the first thing you see is not a shop. People moan and groan, as they expect an attraction, only to be walked straight into what appears to be nothing more then a gift shop. I think the attraction served a great purpose, it not only gave you the experiance of being undersea, but you exited at a much more central point in SeaBase Alpha.

And it's 100% apparent that you are missing something, nothing but constuction walls hide the old sea cabs, and you walk though an area obvioulsy never intended to be seen by anybody except cast members.

What's next, turn off the Doombuggies in Haunted Mansion, and wrap you out after only visiting the gallery? It can't cost that much to run the sea cabs, and it ruined the experiance taking them out.

I think I like the idea of a walk threw attraction- the sea cab didn't do much for the ride. You can take more time to look at the sea life like at an aquarium and they could fix up the tanks more and redesign the inside some and it would be alot better. i think It would be neat if they add a dolphin show or something to it. Also is there any companies interested in the sponser ship?

Even though I know it'll never happen, it'd be INCREDIBLE if they redid the tunnel so it was ALL GLASS--You'd feel like you were litterally walking on the ocean-bottom. That'd be amazing, but they'd have to drain out the entire aquarium to do it...and move the animals to...animal kingdom?

I agree, if they would redo it as a walk through, but since you simply bypass the area now, I think it's a shame. If we determined they are converting it to a walk through I would be happy about that!

I specifically liked the sea cabs...it was so "nice" of them...I can't imagine the Living Seas without 'em.

Among other things, I suppose they remind me of the old JII cars... :(

They are simply undirectly telling people "Hey, there's nothing to see in here". Someone who likes The Living Seas or went once and comes back will simply see what's new and won't come back, or new people visiting the ride will see how empty it is and won't come back, too. So, either they construct something new to keep attendance high or they will take another classical attraction to its end...

I agree with Luau, I am not for the sea cabs being gone, but the current setup stinks, and guest reactions are clear idication.

It seems to me they have more CM's explaining why you have to walk through to the Sea Alpha shop, then it ever took to run the Sea Cabs.

While I think a walk through is better then nothing, I still hope the sea cabs return, so that guests enjoy this pavillion again and don't just call it another Eisner shop and leave.

I fear this is the beginning of the end for Living Seas.

Funny thing is that the first time I went to WDW in 1994, there was a 55 minute wait for Living Seas and it was one of the top rides in Epcot.

What Living Seas needs

It would seem to me that if more research/seminars were being conducted during guest hours people would be more interested in what in going on.

There are a lot of Graduate students/Schools that would love the chance to work have research facilities there. Disney could get rehab money from the government for this purpose. Most public aquariums do the same thing.

Its just wierd having a pavillian without a "ride"...

I dont see any reason why ANYONE would want to walk in there anymore...

It is truly a shame! I loved the sea cabs. It gave the pavillion more of a themed feel to me...But if they are going to do away with them, at least let us walk through! When I went there last. they did dump us into a shop, and there really wasnt much going on, and I was so dissappointed. I wont be going back there again anytime soon. This pavillion needs a rehab badly, and It used to be one of my favorites.

The Leaving Seas, as a whole is a pavillion that needs , more than others, to have a "catch", something to attract people in order to enter, since people who don't love "fish" will not come again if there isn't something that makes them come. If there is a ride, people will go and try it, if they like it or not is another story, but they need to attract people first and without a ride, people won't come in (a common problem with World Showcase).

I mean...they constructed a Whole NEW THEME PARK with the OCEAN CONCEPT, so why is so hard to create a single RIDE!!!???

Well...I don't really know of any rides and DisneySeas that really would work there, and I'd rather not see a copycat regardless. Still, they did have enough ideas to make that park, so I'm sure they had many more that would work here.
