Scored a reservation for dinner at BOG. Help needed please.

It's in reference to the song "Be Our Guest." Lumiere sings, "Try the grey stuff it's delicious, don't believe me? Ask the dishes!"

The chefs at Be Our Guest created a speciality Grey Stuff that's not on the menu but can be presented to someone for a special occasion. It's kind of a cookies and cream mousse.

Oh. Thanks. I'd never heard of this. Sound interesting.

Why does it matter if someone makes and ADR for dessert only? i hear of people doing that in DHS for milkshakes. If the OP made a BOG ADR and ordered only an entree would people have an issue? I'm guessing not.

Its the fact that Everyone and their mom wants in on the entire new dining experience and to waste a good ADR that's impossible for most to get on dessert only when that said dessert is already offered at lunch is dumbfounding!?!

Ill say this about eating at BOG, lunch dining and dinner dinning are two VERY different experiences and Im not just talking about the food. IMO, the ambiance during the evening is far superior to how it feels during lunch.

 Better not order any soups while you're there either! You can get those at lunch and some other more deserving family can have your reservation! Sheesh.

People ordering just dessert aren't the problem. The parties who camped out at their tables for 3+ hours when the restaurant first opened are the problem. Having to adjust the number of reservations allowed due to that kind of behavior has created a much shorter supply to meet the demand. That and the fact that the restaurant is using only two of the three dining rooms for dinner, save during peak season, are way bigger issues than "wasting" a reservation on cupcakes.

A lot of nasty covetous behavior on this thread.

The OP got a reservation, and he can do with it what he pleases. It's not his fault that the reservation is a hard one to get. The shameful thing isn't this misguided perception that he is "wasting" his table, it's the chiding him for doing something that is perfectly acceptable at any restaurant. I kind of half-hope he goes in there and just orders a Coke and a smile out of spite. Hell, if he promises to adequately tip his server for the time, I hope he sits there all night eating complementary bread and serving bowls full of free Grey Stuff.

I expect this kind of behavior at the other message forum, but not here.

So excited, I finally got a BOG reservation for February (for my birthday!).
I will probably order everyting on the menu :jawdrop: but I wouldn't judge or criticize anyone who just went in to enjoy a dessert and the beauty/theming of the building.
Truthfully, I am not really going for the food....more for the "experience".

Any tips on what anyone has eaten/enjoyed would be appreciated!

Back from the trip and definitely happy to tell you all that soup, salad, entree and dessert were all ordered for dinner. Even got to taste the Grey Stuff. I will say that for the hour that we were there, the entire place, including the two smaller rooms, were EMPTY save for a handful of tables. This makes me wonder how the heck there were no more reservations available ??? No long line of people waiting to get in when we left the restaurant either.

If you are seriously scoring a reservation for dinner at BOG and only ordering cupcakes that is infuriating to everyone else trying to actually get dinner there with no hope of securing a reservation insight! They have those cupcakes at lunch and you can most likely get grey stuff as well for lunch, get your cupcake fix then. But to seriously waste an ADR for cupcakes that's impossible to get into. I'm sorry but shame on you! Seriously?!?

Ridiculous...It is nobody's business what anybody else orders. If someone wants just dessert, so what? To quote you, "Seriously?!?"

Seriously it IS my business! ;)

All I was saying was why not do lunch instead when they offer what they want! I thought it was weird that all they wanted to get was just those cupcakes and not a full dinner meal!

Unless you are an employee of BOG, it's not your business what anyone eats for their birthday. Your post comes off as a very jealous person that someone got a reservation for this. Sorry but I find it weird.

My wife and I have been doing something we call dessert hopping for years. It is like resort hopping except we visit different WDW restaurants and try their desserts. It is a lot of fun and we enjoy desserts and coffee at many different restaurants. Never had a problem, or anyone even question it. And we leave a nice tip. You would be welcome to join us sometime. :)

In my opinion it is their ADR and they can do what they want with it.... Cupcake or not.

I understand it is tough to get an ADR but honestly if you got up at. 6am or got on the phone at 7am at 180+10 then you most likely would have gotten them.

Order cupcakes & coffee and the meals over with in less than 15 minutes... then the table opens up for someone else. ME.. I'm going in for the entire bonanza. I worked hard to get my ADR, and I'm certainly going to get the entire meal experience the imagineers, chefs, servers worked hard to give me.

We ordered 3 different kinds of desserts after our meal. The one that stood out the most to me was the passionfruit cream puff. It was delicious! The cupcakes, were just ok...they are so mushy they need to be eaten with a spoon.
