Scored a reservation for dinner at BOG. Help needed please.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
The birthday thing should be enough to score some grey stuff.
Make sure you wear your pins.

As a paying customer, you can order as much or as little as you want; just be prepared for a raised eyebrow if you only order 2 cupcakes. On the plus side (for your server, anyway), you'll be in and out in record time.

I wouldn't sweat it. The DW and I are doing this in October. We have an 8:15 ADR that we had planned on using for dinner when she decided, after two previous dinner trips there, she didn't want to eat dinner this trip so we got a 5:30 ADR at Kona. Rather than release the ADR we decided to keep it and use it for drinks and dessert before wishes. I mean, a nice glass of wine or a beer before wishes, I'll take it. Aint got no time for eyebrow raises anyway ;-)

You certainly do not have to order entrées if you dont want them -- there or at any a la carte restaurant. as for the Grey Stuff, it is given out for celebrations, but it's at the server's discretion. I've heard that not all the servers give it automatically. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't offer it if you're already ordering just dessert anyway, but don't be afraid to ask.

We celebrated DH's birthday at BOG in May. I had it added to our ADR, and our waitress wished him a happy birthday. But no grey stuff. :( We had a great dinner, and ordered some yummy cupcakes for dessert. I kind of forgot about it until after we had left. If they don't bring any, I'd definitely ask about it. ;)

Ok, we've been going to WDW regularly for almost 20 years and I've never even heard of "Grey Stuff". Would someone be so kind as to explain it to me? Thanks.

It's in reference to the song "Be Our Guest." Lumiere sings, "Try the grey stuff it's delicious, don't believe me? Ask the dishes!"

The chefs at Be Our Guest created a speciality Grey Stuff that's not on the menu but can be presented to someone for a special occasion. It's kind of a cookies and cream mousse.

You can order as much or as little food as you desire. Just keep in mind that the CM waiting on you is most likely planning on getting tips from a full meal, so either tip accordingly, or move along so they can try to turn the table over again.

Most of the desserts are the same at lunch, so you would have the option of that as well.

This question made me wonder if you'd heard something bad about the food at BoG. Usually all of it is pretty good.

Well I've read people's reviews about how some entrees, like the steak for instance, used to be good but not anymore because of the way it's prepared now I think? That's why I"m wondering if ordering entrees will be worth it.

Now what is this I hear about Mickey Check Meals I hear they serve at BOG? Healthy fare perhaps? Are they just for kids?

If you are seriously scoring a reservation for dinner at BOG and only ordering cupcakes that is infuriating to everyone else trying to actually get dinner there with no hope of securing a reservation insight! They have those cupcakes at lunch and you can most likely get grey stuff as well for lunch, get your cupcake fix then. But to seriously waste an ADR for cupcakes that's impossible to get into. I'm sorry but shame on you! Seriously?!?

I can't say I disagree with this. I tried for weeks to get an ADR (just got one today for the last day of our trip.)
I mean, do what you want but I went thru a lot of trouble (calling repeatedly, checking the interwebz 4x a day) for THE most sought after ADR at WDW. I'm gonna enjoy the whole experience. Entree, dessert, drinks, the whole she-bang.

I'm in agreement with the folks above me. I called and called as soon as reservations opened up for my trip, and so far nothing has been available for BoG. It's been a big disappointment for my whole group. You're a paying customer, so order what you like, but I'll happily buy you cupcakes if I can have your ADR.

Ok, everyone take it easy.

1) I too had been checking daily for available spots at BOG for MONTHS. It's not like I started checking a few days ago and I just magically happened to be handed one to me. Keep LOOKING and you shall FIND. There were quite a few open spots this weekend when I found mine.

2) I'm only asking whether or not this would be considered ok. Never once did I say that was our solid plan from before we even started looking for a reservation.

3) Thanks to the first few people who were kind enough to give me their input without trying to chop my head off.

Well, I didn't try endlessly, got right in at the 180 day mark and had every intention of eating dinner there until recently. Honestly, I expected more people to chastise you for even thinking of just getting a dessert. Heck, the thought never even crossed my mind until a week ago when the DW wanted to ditch it for something else but we are super excited about being able to go and just get a few drinks and may be a dessert or meat and cheese board. Its even got me thinking about doing for our December trip too.
