Sci Fi Dine in is awful? Do tell...

Have ADR for Sci Fi Dine in for my 6-year-old more than anything else. My DH and I are not foodies, so anything we eat will be just fine. She is excited about sitting in a car to eat. That's really all she needs. However, I've heard twice now that it's awful. What about it is bad? If you've been, would you go again?

For atmosphere Sci-fi gets a 10. The set up is just too cool for words.

For food it get about a 6-7. The food is not inedible by any means, but there is nothing all that great. It is about on par with a quick service location in terms of food quality.

I think they have good burgers. I am not a bit fan of the Disney burgers that you get at the counter service but the Sci-Fi ones are thick patties and are tasty. I would stick to those, the other food is so so.

I love sci fi and so do my kids. It is a great atmosphere, food is so so but i still love their menu. If your 6 year old is looking forward to it then go for it! We have been 4 times and never a bad experience. And going again in July.

I've only been once and my family loved it. The food is average (and maybe a little over priced) but it really is about the experience. I was worried that the movies might be a little scary for my girls (ages 3 & 6 when we went) but they thought it was funny. I have to say it was one of my more relaxing meals because the movies kept them occupied the whole time.
I would definitely go again.

If I am at DHS, you bet you will find me at the SCI FI Diner sometime that day. As mentioned the atmosphere is awesome and very enjoyable. The food is not 5 stars but it is very edible.

One thing that is important to remember about reviews is that it will always be skewed. It bothers me when someone goes to a buffet (i.e. Golden Corrall) and expect high quality food and service. Umm its a buffet. Similiar with most disney restaurants. Most theme park sit down places are counter service food with more expensive prices. You are paying for the atmosphere (theming). My advice, do not allow what you read online to deter you from doing what you really want to do at WDW. You will have a great time and in many cases if something is not right - a CM or manager will go out there way to make it better

There is no part of SFDIT that is awful. The food is decent, and the ambiance is brilliant. Sitting in cars, watching clips from classic Sci Fi movies. It's just a great time. Plus, glowing ice cubes.

It's one of the best themed places to eat in any of the parks..and the food is alot like any QS you get..not great but no worse than any Fast Food joint.

Not only would we go back, but we are going back for the third time this September. had there not been Free Dining, it was decided that this and San Angel Inn were two meals we would pay out of pocket for.

You have to take reviews with a grain of salt. I always say go and experience it for yourself. That being said we ate there in '05 and truly enjoyed it. The atmosphere was fun and the food really good. We have an ADR there again, finally, for our trip later this year.

How far in advance of our reservation should we arrive?
