Scenario - how do you play it out?

One of my dad and I's favorite games to play, set up a scenario and figure out how you would react and plan. Thought we might have fun with it here:

Scenario

It's your last night of the trip, it's rained all afternoon but is clearing for the evening. It's 7:00 PM and you are hungry and want to finish the evening with as much as you can (or with your traditional finish). You are at the PO Riverside. Wishes is at 9:00 and park closes then, DHS closes at 8:00 PM but has a Fantasmic show at 8:00 PM. MK is open till 12:00 with Wishes at 10:00.

Your goal is to see as much as you can, and eat, and finish off the trip with a high note. What do you do?

With my experience of buses at POR, I pack and get ready to leave the next morning. The buses would get me to both parks after the shows ended.

However, assuming a bus I wanted at POR did not get delayed, I hit MK. More to do, see, and smell there. DHS is not worth a ticket day any more. Until they fix that park, it is almost not worth going.

I play the optimist so I grab a bus to Epcot and hustle to Mexico for nachos at the cantina. We watch Illuminations from the far north side of the lagoon and beat the crowd to the monorail. We enter magic kingdom in time to catch wishes at the far end of Main Street. At 10:30 post show, we cut through the emporium to adventureland for a night ride on Jungle Cruise followed by POTC and Splash Mountain. It's just after 11 and we visit the Haunted Mansion and cut through Fantasyland to get one last run on the mine train. We then slowly stroll through the castle and walk slowly down Main Street enjoying the sights and sounds and turn for the goodnight kiss from the castle before exiting to plan our next trip

I would pack my luggage. Order an Uber to get me to the Polynesian. I would have dinner in Captain Cook's (Lobster Roll is delicious!). I may even have a beverage in the lounge (take the remainder in a 'to go' glass) and head to the pier for a boat to the MK.

As I drift across the Seven Seas Lagoon, I take it all in, and take a deep breath before I head into the MK for a whirlwind trip around the land. My rational: move counter-clockwise. I'll head up Main Street, cutting past Crystal Palace heading for Adventureland. Whatever strikes me to ride, I'll ride. I'll try and hit my favorites: JC, POTC, BTM, HM, Its a Small World, and end my night in Tomorrowland. Will I watch Wishes? Sure! As I move from one attraction to the next. Will I stop and see the parade? Sure, again as I wisp on by.

I can be tired tomorrow. My aim is to do as much as possible before closing. If I need to sit and rest, I will. One thing is for certain: I will do what my heart wishes in that very moment, and I will enjoy every last second of Disney the way I like to.

Hang by the pool for awhile, maybe finish the book I started earlier in the week, then watch the outdoor movie before turning in. Long drive home tomorrow.

MK. Running from park to park for one or two things, you end up spending more time at the bus stop or on the bus. I'd head to MK, watch Wishes, Main Street Electrical Parade and hit a few rides. Those with small children will be leaving after Wishes. I can ride a few rides and get a Dole Whip.

Which is why the first step in my "game plan" would be - walk to personal/rental vehicle, LOL.

It's precisely situations like this which is why even if I stay on site I don't use Disney transportation. I can get myself from any place on the property to walking into a park in under 20 minutes, including park to park. Often less, 20 minutes includes walking time if I have a AAA Diamond parking pass. So you can just spend a couple of hours in a park without feeling like it took half a day.

It's amazing to me how much time I used to spend on vacation sitting on a bench at, or standing in, a bus line. Even just assuming a single park hop, and transport to and from your resort, you are talking 90 minutes of your day, easily, when you can spend a half or third of that time, and in your own vehicle under your own control, your own music, A/C, etc...and...gasp...you could grab a bite to eat outside the gates for 1/4 the price too, without reservations six months in advance, if you dared venture. Or...and now I know I'm really going off the rails crazy...buy a Pepsi product! LOL.

If you're looking for an itinerary to do as you suggest, see below. I don't have a creative solution like others have come up with.

1. Bus to HS. Hop on as soon as possible. With HS closing at 8pm, it might better to board before 7pm.
2. See Fantasmic at 8pm. Even better is if you were in HS earlier in the day and you haven't used up your FP+s OR you get a 4th FP for it OR you get the Fantasmic Dining package with an earlier lunch ADR. Otherwise, you're waiting in line for standby.
3. Walk directly to bus as soon as show is over. No stopping to take photos, etc. Find the MK bus.
4. Bus to MK to see Wishes. (BTW, MSEP is probably at 11pm that night).

Wait, why are you at PO Riverside? Did you let a little RAIN scare you out of the parks? Balderdash, says I! Grab an umbrella or poncho, or just a really absorbent hoodie, and get in a full day's worth of fun!

First... ;) beat the crap out of dad for coming up with such a no-win scenario. Then...Steal his wallet and use his credit cards to book another weeks worth of days at POR to teach him a lesson. Then finish the trip off seeing, eating, riding as much as I could before security finds me. :p
