Scared Mommy!

I am on the verge of a freak out!! Tonight is a monumental night in the life of my daughter & I am terrified of it! A few basic facts to be aware of before I detail the current issue...

1. I went to my first concert (AC/DC) when I was 8...with my parents
2. My daughter went to her first concert when she was 4 (Poison) with me. She's been going to concerts & meeting bands ever since...with me.

Tonight, I was supposed to take her to the NSYNC show, but plans for that fell through. Last minute (today), my dad called up with an offer. A 10th grade who works for him has an extra 3rd row ticket. Her father works for the venue. She is going with a couple of 7th grade friends. My daughter is going with them. Now, my dad & everyone else has assured me that this girl is really good...strict parents, very religious, babysits often, etc. Besides, this IS NSYNC, not Iron Maiden. I doubt there will be drugs or a mosh pit going on. But the fact remains that this is her first concert without a parent. I couldn't really rob her of this opportunity, but I am still nervous. Everyone else here thinks I'm overreacting. Opinions?

...well...if its of any consiquence..when I was 13 I went to my first concert in NYC..it was White zombie with Anthrax...i went with 3 friends of mine who were not very trustworthy..and i turned out fine (keep the comments to yourself)...an N*Sync show should be pretty tame...with the exception of screaming brainwashed 14 year old girls ;)

She should be fine Dawn! If she has been to much rougher shows with you, she knows how to conduct herself..and by rougher, I mean NSYNC VS Poison...LOL Who do YOU think would win??? LOL!
Give her a cell phone or make sure she calls you to check in...With a Cell she can do that from anywhere...
Give her some trust, and see how she does. I am sure all will come out fine:)
Your fellow Poison Fan....

I wouldn't worry too much. As long as your own daughter knows right from wrong and you can trust her, I'm sure she'll be fine. I can't imagine there being alot of trouble at an NSYNC concert. The more she goes to concerts with her friends, the easier it'll get. The first time is always the hardest. :)

Going to your first concert alone (with friends) is hard??! Could have fooled me...I though it was freedom and I had a blast. :D

Did I mention that she is 5? My dad's here now getting ready to take her to meet & have dinner with these girls she's going with. Oh, this is weird. I am not a paranoid mom, I'm pretty lax, actually. I cannot believe I am spazzing out like this! She has some money of her own that she's taking, she's got her CDs to listen to on the car ride up & she is thrilled. She keeps telling me "Mommy, don't be scared. If I marry Justin tonight, I'll come home & tell you first". Oh for crying out loud!!! I think I need to go out myself to get my mind off of things!

Seriously..dont spaz...she will be ok..if you must go out tonight to distract yourself..i have a few suggestions ;)

So I should tell her to look outside for flyer-toting people that scare her & introduce hereself? :D I haven't been to NCRC except for hockey games, so I'm still kind of clueless on it.

Not 100% sure if I'm going anywhere or not, but I'd like to have something to ponder at least, so suggest away!

LoL..well..if you want your rugrat to come home with a band sticker on her forehead...go right ahead ;)

Well..since its saturday night..in south florida..your options are quite open...

Some suggestions however:::

Las Olas! Murphys law in particular...they usually have a nice croud on weekends...granted its not MY scene..but hey..thats a whole other story

Aventrua mall! - The AMC theater there ROCKS...just go early to avoid crouds...

if you feel like driving a bit...

City Walk! - up in west palm..that place is stunningly beutiful and im sure you could find SOMETHING to do...

Clematis! - same deal as above

Or you could always go fight with the ghetto teens at Sawgrass ;)

Just steer clear of south beach...especially since its a SAT night..oyyyyy

I meant for the Mommy! LOL

Ok, now that I know she's only 5, I can really see why you're worried. I thought she was in the 7th grade too. I still think she'll be fine. Good Luck to YOU, I bet it'll be a loooong night for you.

Dawn, who's driving? I'd be more concerned about that, rather than the concert itself!

Thats a good point..the drive from where you live to the NCRC involves I-95 and 595...2 of the most dangerous roads I know of..

...but lets not scare her any more than she already is...

Well, my dad drove her from here to the girl's house & the girl's parents drove from there. My dad is waiting for them now to drive everyone back & I believe my daughter is just going to sleep over at my dad's. The driving is the one thing I'm totally at ease with. :)

...well..I spoke to my band mates..they did not taint any 5 year olds with a sticker on the forehead..so you are safe there ;)

Just got the check in call. She liked the girls she went with & said they were really nice. She bought herself a poster, a glow in the dark necklace & a souvenir bucket of cotton candy. She got on the phone to tell me that Justin sang to her & they were so close. She was thrilled. I asked her if she's coming home or sleeping over at her papa's. Her response? "I don't know, but if I don't come home, then you'll know I'm not coming home. You'll figure it out." Ummm...OK. That wasn't quite the answer I was looking for. I'm glad my dad was more informative. Good grief!
