Regardless of whether this will happen or not, one thing I think we can all agree with, is that SOMETHING needs to be put into PI.

Its dead now. There is nothing there, and you can feel it.

At this point, I don't care if they put more shopping and dining in there, just put SOMETHING there! Its so depressing to walk through there, considering what the place used to be.

When pressed, the OP admitted his friend might have been lying. I'd say that's likely the case. Case closed.

Exactly; And that is what I put in my original post. To take this with a grain of salt. I honestly don't know if he got all the details right. For all I know, he confused WDI with another company, which I don't see how you could LOL

He has less interest in Disney than anyone I know, so he certainly doesn't know the company like you or I do. So the fact that he came u with the name King Louis', and the fact that it is Jungle Book related, means something I think......

While I don't think he is lying, he very well might have gotten the facts wrong.

However, I posted it cause its a fun idea to think about, and its an interesting rumor to consider!

I think a teen/tween club, with proper policies in place, would be a great idea for the tween community. I agree on no one older than 18 being allowed in. If they ever did this, They would have to have security everywhere, no different than a regular club. And playing pop music from today (Kelly Clarkson, Black Eyed Peas, Jonas Brothers, etc) would appeal to that crowd well. And having a parent load a card that the child can use to eat/drink would be a great idea. I also like the check in/check out idea. I work at Chuck E Cheese, and we do something similar with Kid Check. We stamp the parent and child with a unique number. We stamp them with ink that only shows up under a black light. When they leave, we have a hand held black light that we use to check the number. If the number doesn't match between the child and adult, the child doesn't leave. Its simple, but it works. Something a bit more sophisticated could be implored here.

Alot of people don't think that this kind of idea would work, but I personally feel like it would! Its a fun idea! :sohappy:

He probably had one of his fellow students help him with the details. I know it's hard to imagine someone who is into Disney attending art school (:hammer:), but that's probably who helped him. Not too difficult to imagine how it probably played out... "Hey I have this friend who is really into Disney. I don't know anything about Disney but can you help me play a joke on him? He knows I'm not into Disney, so he'll fall for it because I'll have 'details that no one who's not into Disney could possibly have'." :hammer:

Bound and determined to derail this, aren't ya? :hammer::ROFLOL:

Honestly, I don't even care if its true or not, I thought it was a fun idea.

Part of why I do not think this idea is all that real, and could even come from a professor who knows Pleasure Island but may not be up to date. There is not a whole lot for the parents to be doing at Downtown Disney while the kids are at the club.

and as a parent I would be very apprehensive about letting my teen go to a club alone no matter how many smiling cast members and cute little critters are in there

The OP made it quite clear that he doesn't know how true this is, and it is most likely a class project. Maybe WDI is consulting on it, maybe not; he has stated that his friend may not have given him all of the information, and has conceded that it is also possible that his friend made it up.

He just thought it would be an interesting topic for a bunch of WDW fans to discuss. Because it really has more to do with Imagineering, I'll move it over there.

But there is no reason for the snarky posts.

This sounds like, if true, it could be like the party they throw in Hollywood Studios on the extra magic hours. It used to be at the hat, then they moved it into the Playhouse Disney attraction where they'd play music, kids would dance, bubbles would come down, etc.

If this is a real rumor, the only way I can see it happening is if parents stay with the kid. Disney wouldn't want that kind of responsibility (i.e., babysitting 15-20 year olds in a dark club). Think of the liability!

As the OP said, though, this does make for a fun topic to ponder!

Hmmm...not sure what to think of the over all concept.

Maybe these students are doing WDI's ImagiNations Contest and this is their concept for their entry. This could make some since....

I do know that WDI Orlando does deal with eastern based universities so this could be very feasible outsourcing some of the work to these students. Especially if WDI has someone on the inside working that had attended Savannah.

You know it really comes down to what these students are actually designing, if it's more architecture and graphic design based it could be very possible.

Needless to say Disney has connections with most major well known design school, regardless of what coast their on.

I just hope we hear some good news for PI. I loved it in it's old form and I hope that Disney does something exciting and unique over there.
