Saving Money on Food

I was looking around on MouseSavers.com and found someone who said they bought 2 pieces of bread for .69cents at their food court and a small thing of Peaunt butter and Jelly and made a sandwich for their kids. What a great idea. Someone else mentioned ordering a double cheeseburger and an extra bun to make 2 burgers.

Does anyone else have any money saving ideas???

I always cram the corners of our suitcases full with snacks and treats. Granola bars, fruit snacks, candy bars and those individual cereal containers (bowls, not boxes) are lightweight, small and save us a lot of $! We also get ONE refillable mug and share it. Yes, it's a little inconvenient, but really just my DD and I drink fountain drinks, anyway. I saw something on another recent thread about Costco in Orlando delivering a case of water to the room at no additional charge--if that's true, it would be another huge savings.

Finally, don't be afraid to split meals at even the table service restaurants. The portions are generally huge, and it's a great way to save big!

Many Target-esque stores and supermarkets sell squeeze water bottles with Brita filters you can screw in. Buy those, and you can fill 'em up anywhere. Much cheaper that constantly buying bottles of water, much less wasteful than buying a case of bottled water at Costco, and (I can speak from experience) eliminates the Skunk smell-taste from water fountain water in the parks.

I always stop at walmart, pick up one of those styrafoam (sp?) coolers and load it up with fruit, cheese, water & slimfast. That way I don't have to buy breakfast from the food court.
